The Vienna Symphonic Library Synchron Bösendorfer Imperial Full Library is a virtual instrument that puts the warm bass, singing treble, and rich overtones of a Bösendorfer Concert Grand 290 Imperial at your fingertips. Representing the apex of the famed Austrian piano manufacturer's precious heritage, the Concert Grand 290 Imperial features nine additional sub-bass notes, which extend the instrument's key range downward to the low C for a total range of eight octaves. The extra bass strings create additional harmonic resonance with every key you strike, providing warmth, richness and depth across the entire instrument. The massive soundboard projects an unusually broad frequency range, evoking a sonorous, orchestral timbre.
The 295.3GB Synchron Bösendorfer Imperial Full Library was meticulously sampled on Stage A of Synchron Stage Vienna, Austria. The instrument utilizes up to 237,655 samples recorded with 11 different microphone combinations (including surround) to capture the natural ambience of this world-renowned recording space.

Furthermore, all samples were recorded using the instrument’s integrated, computer-controlled performance reproducing system. Its noncontact optical sensors detected every movement of all 88 keys (position, velocity and release velocity), as well as the pedals (including half-pedaling) with precision, reproducing delicate nuances of a human performance. Additional hammer sensor-feedback allowed for accurate reproduction of special playing techniques such as rapid note repetition and softly played notes.
What’s more, over the course of several months, Vienna Symphonic Library team members were trained in preparing and tuning the grand piano accurately by Vienna’s leading piano technicians in order to achieve absolutely consistent tuning and sound characteristics during the entire recording process.
