Studio Technologies Model 545DC Overview

The Studio Technologies Model 545DC allows for two single-channel analog party-line (PL) intercom circuits and devices to be incorporated into Dante audio-over-Ethernet applications. Commonly used in theater, entertainment, and education applications, Model 545DC now allows single-channel analog PL to work with a wide range of products including Clear-Com. Just one Ethernet connection can provide power and multichannel audio integration. For added flexibility, a separate external power source of 12 volts DC can power the unit.

The front panel uses LEDs to provide status indications of the Ethernet and Dante connections. And for further configuration capabilities of audio parameters, the STcontrolller application can be used to monitor real-time operations.

Audio Applications
There are three main ways the Model 545DC can be used: connecting analog party-line intercom circuits into Dante-based systems, adding party-line intercom support for matric systems, and linking two standalone analog party-line intercom circuits. Both input and output channels are fully capable of being connected to Dante-based circuits.
Party-Line Interfacing
Using a unique detection function, the Model 545DC can remain stable in the case of an active belt pack becoming disconnected. With up to 150mA of current available, a typical entertainment application can connect up to three RS-501 or five RS-701 belt packs to each of the two interfaces. This can eliminate the need for an external intercom power supply, therefore reducing extra system cost and space.
Dante Audio-Over-Ethernet
At the center of Model 545DC is Dante audio-over-Ethernet networking technology. Audio resolution is set to a sample rate of 48 kHz and a bit depth of up to 24. Channel routing is then configured with the Dante Controller application.
Analog Hybrids With Auto Nulling
The Analog Hybrids feature provides low noise and distortion, good frequency response, and high return-loss, even if used in non-ideal circumstances. To achieve significant trans-hybrid loss, the hybrid auto null technology accounts for resistive, inductive, and capacitive conditions that are connected to the party-line cabling.
Simple Installation
Both data and power can be provided using an Ethernet connection into the RJ-45 connector on the rear of the unit. If redundant power is required in your setup, an external 12 VDC power source can be connected via a 4-pin female XLR connector. Lastly, the party-line intercom connections are made using two 3-pin male XLR connections.
