Godox MA5R Reviews

Well Built, Great Features & Price!

Well-built & great features at an affordable price! Godox Light app works well w the unit. You can get crazy in the app & change hsi/dim/speed w fx like faulty bulb etc. Quick warning: when first powering on the unit, navigate with the plus/minus buttons to go down to highlight English, as the unit initially has Chinese language selected. If u mess up like i did, the included manual guides u. But basically back out of cct/dim etc, scroll all the way down to the large bottom 5th option Menu then select option 2 for Language (yellow globe), and switch to English. anyway... Its the little things that make this unit special. Alleged 3hr40min run time at 100% dim per the manual. 90min charge time. Solid metal-feeling construction. Slitely larger than a credit card, slightly thicker than an iphone, about 3/4 the height of an iphone. ultra lightweight. The magnetic back of the Godox MA5R is compatible with the Magforce Large Adhesive Magnetic Plate that bhphoto also sells. Appears you can use gaffe + magnetic plate to mount the unit to flat surfaces. Tho id recommend the magforce plate so it doesnt cover the entire back of the unit/avoid scratching that fancy LCD that shows your dim values, 0-100% battery percentage etc. I love how intuitive operation is. Power button: hold for on/off. Confirm button: hold to back out, press to enter. The included squishy plastic diffusion conforms nicely to the unit. Godox even accounted for the hardware buttons for operating the unit by hand when its inside the included diffuser, with precise little buttons aligning w the diffuser. But using it w the Godox Light app is the fastest. Its easy to connect n operate. You can also grab the Ruggard HCY-PVB portable hard drive case for quick access storage, as the box it comes in is annoying to reuse. Only complaint: with one of my units, the included little usbc-usbc charging cable didnt fit, but easily remedied, you can buy sunguy 1.5ft usbc-usbc cable online, 2 for 7 bucks. I assume most people will have usbc-usbc cables around any way. no sweat. Great little unit. Bought 4 of em. 10/10

The Godox MA5R RGB LED Light and Power Bank (Black), B&H # GOMA5RBLACK, does not include a case. The dimensions are 4.21 x 2.68 x 0.51" / 10.69 x 6.81 x 1.3 cm. Please consider this small case instead: the Ruggard HCY-PVB Portable Hard Drive Case, B&H # RUHCYPVB (https://bhpho.to/3PDKHwe). It's interior dimensions are 5.50 x 1.37 x 3.74" / 14.00 x 3.50 x 9.50 cm.

The Godox MA5R RGB LED Light and Power Bank (Black), B&H # GOMA5RBLACK, includes a Collapsible Diffusion Dome; there are no other accessories available at this time that would work as a diffuser for the Godox MA5R.
