MikroTik CRS309-1G-8S+IN Overview

Enhance your business by using the MikroTik CRS309-1G-8S+IN 8-Port 10G SFP+ Managed Switch to expand your network for fast connections to devices and easy file sharing.

This managed switch includes eight SFP+ slots that support up to 10 Gb/s fiber links. The Gigabit RJ45 Ethernet uplink port supports passive PoE-in with compatible devices, giving you an alternative to using the included power adapter for tricky areas. The included rackmount adapter allows you to place the switch onto a standard rack. This switch delivers smooth performance with an 800 MHz dual-core processor with 512MB of memory. It also includes a dual boot function that allows you to switch between the RouterOS and SwitchOS operating systems.

Excellent SFP+ switch for homelab

I bought this switch to replace a noisy and hot copper MikroTik CRS312-4C+8XG-RM switch I had for 4 years. While the CRS312 served me well in Seattle with mild weather, it became more of a pain point in NYC where both summers and winters are brutal. The CRS309-1G-8S+IN on the other hand is quiet. It connects to my MS-01s, CCR and CSS via DAC with expansion room for two more servers. However, if you use copper RJ-45 SFP+ like me, space them out. I didn't once and one shut down from heat, that in winter. When I spaced out, it's pretty reliable so far. Eventually I'll want to dump the copper RJ-45 SFPs and get a UniFi PoE switch for the 10G and PoE devices. Well, unless MikroTik makes a suitable switch.
