Canon GX6120 Reviews
Prints great, card stock, too!
I replaced my HP printer (9020?) with this and it feeds card stock in smoothly and prints perfectly on it. It seems to print a little darker than the HP. But so far, we're happy with it!
Canon GX6120 Disappoints
For the first time ever we hired a computer tech to install this printer. No, we weren't expecting problems with this. Afterall it's a Canon! We've been happy with every Canon product purchased in the past. We know it's time to let younger folk's brawn, brains and ability handle our computer equip installs, fixes and tweaking. We are into our 80s with brain and body both getting old, slow & stiff. Hiring tech help seemed the sure thing for an easy, smooth, fast install. Sadly it hasn't been easy, fast or smooth! It should have been unpacked, online & running within 60 minutes tops - but it's been a headache from day one. After weeks and multiple visits by Ted the Tech this new Canon GX6120 still disappoints. Ted has dinked with the printer, its settings, its network settings, the eero router, the network settings. Still the GX6120 is still slow to get recognized by the Canon app, slow to get started printing and issues error messages nearly every print session. Our old Canon Laser aio 643 was built like a tank, had a dandy large easy2read & use touch screen control panel and cost us 2/3rds the price of this Ink Jet GX 6120. Oddly, Canon still sells the Laser 643 but prices it nearly 3x what it costs us 5 or so years ago. The Canon GX6120 is compact & light which seemed a plus at purchase. However it's flimsy compared to the Canon Laser. The touch screen control panel is way too small given the printer's price. And too small for aged eyes. Pros: So far I can say it prints text clearly. That's as good as it gets. I haven't tried printing a photo yet. Other Cons: Canon does not provide a pdf user manual for the GX 6120. Instead Canon provides a hard to understand, navigate & search Online Manual. It is a miserable substitute for a well written amply indexed printable in PDF user manual. The online manual rates a D - from me. We are holding out hope that live Canon Techs can turn our deep GX6120 disappointment into satisfaction.
