The manual says that it lasts "4 months in half full tightly capped bottles". How about a bottle with only ~100ml left, i.e. 10% full instead of "half-full"? Basically I have less than half a bottle left and I'm nervous... should I throw it away after 3 months? Feels wasteful but I also can't afford to lose a single roll.

After getting burned by some expired xtol I'm now in the habit of mixing up a working solution, then dropping a small bit of the film leader into the jug and waiting for 5-10 mins to see if the film turns dark-which means the developer still works

How many rolls of film can be expected to be developed with this 1 liter bottle?
Asked by: Laurie
If you want to be thrifty, you should be able to get 50 rolls out of this liter. I regularly use DD-X to process Fomapan 100 and HP5 in 3 reel Patterson tanks. You can re-use the working solution, it doesn't have to be one-shot. Ilford says 1 Liter at working dilution (1:4) will process 10 rolls of 35mm film (36 exp.). That means 50 total rolls. They recommend keeping track of how many rolls you've processed and then adding development time, per their data sheet, check it out. Personally, I never add what they recommend and I get good results consistently. I also keep it for weeks, in a sealed black plastic bottle.

Asked by: Linda
More than likely it is not. Ilford puts in their Technical Data Sheet for the ILFOTEC DD-X Developer that it lasts 24 months in full tightly capped bottles.
