Impact Steel Baby Stud Reviews
Solid baby pin, one downside
Seems well made, works great in normal baby receivers. Worth noting that the indent for the knurling starts slightly too far from the end to be able to catch the safety lock pin in any of the Impact superclamps.
Simple, strong, and very useful on set
Much like the 1/4 inch version I already have in my kit, this Impact steel baby stud with the 3/8 thread is another extremely useful little grip accessory. It is one of those simple tools that ends up solving a lot of mounting situations on set. Having the standard baby pin on one end and a 3/8" mount on the other opens up a lot of possibilities when rigging lights or accessories. The build quality is excellent. It is made from solid steel and feels very tough and durable. Once it is mounted into a grip head, clamp, or another piece of grip gear, it feels very secure. The knurling on the baby pin is a nice touch because it helps the set screw grab tightly and prevents the stud from slipping or rotating. In the photos I shared, I mounted it directly to an apple box using the 3/8 thread. That made it easy to add a baby pin exactly where I needed it to attach a light for a lower lighting setup. Being able to quickly turn something simple like an apple box into a mounting point is a great example of how useful these little adapters can be. If you already use grip gear regularly, this is the kind of accessory that earns its place in the kit very quickly. It is strong, well made, and extremely practical. Between this one and the 1/4-inch version, I now have even more flexibility when rigging lights and accessories. [I have received this product in exchange for my honest review.]
