Max write vs sustained write vs minimum write speed? Nikon Z8
Asked by: Frank
The Lexar 256GB Professional DIAMOND CFexpress 4.0 Type B Memory Card is a very fast card. The manufacturer does not list the speed with specific cameras, and the Nikon Z8 card slot does not support the CFexpress 4.0 standard. Data is transferred in accordance with the CFexpress 2.0 standard, meaning it will be slower than what is listed on the card.

Can I use this with a "classic" CF express 2.0 type B card reader, or do I need a 4.0 card reader?
Asked by: Thomas
Generally, USB4/Thunderbolt readers will support the PCIe 4.0 speeds, because Type B cards have two lanes, and that is equivalent to 4 lanes of PCIe 3.0 (32 gbps), which is more than what even USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 (20 gbps) can muster, but something Thunderbolt 4/USB4 can handle just fine.
