With support for up to 64 high-definition surveillance cameras, this 8TB hard drive can hold a large amount of data and gives you the ability to easily upgrade and expand your security system. Furthermore, WD AllFrame technology helps improve video capturing and reduces errors, pixilation, and video interruptions that could happen in a video recorder system.

A SATA III 6 Gb/s interface, sustained data transfer speeds of up to 215 MB/s, and a 256MB cache all help to ensure uninterrupted data transfers. Furthermore, the drive's 300,000 load/unload cycles, annualized workload rating of 180TB per year, MTBF rating of 1 million hours, and <1 in 1014 non-recoverable read errors per bit read also help to ensure a strong operational life.

Very loud!

Bought this drive for a Ubiquiti UNVR Instant. As others have mentioned, the drive is noisy, so loud I could hear it through the walls of the house where it was installed. For surveillance it's expected to have to write to the drive a lot, and with the Purple line I expected it would be optimized for that. But we could hear it clicking while doing all the little writes. The drive was not defective, but maybe some piece of it was because it was clicking far more than expected. I've worked with a few NASes and JBODs, and none of the drives I put in those were nearly as loud. Drive worked fine, and B&H was great as usual.
