Offering a level of realistic precision and control uncommon in electronic drums, the PD-14DSX from Roland is a 14" digital snare drum with multiple sensors for highly detailed positional sensing and over 16,000 velocity variations across the head. With a true-to-life strainer that lets you turn your snares off and adjust tension, the PD-14DSX is nearly indistinguishable from the real thing.
The PD-14DSX is designed for use with the V71 drum sound module or the TD-50X (with limited functionality). This snare is built for professionals seeking precision. It sports a head sensor, three positional sensors, a rim sensor, and three cross-stick sensors, which detect your hand automatically and switch the drum technique mode seamlessly. This means you can engage in deep or shallow rim shots, get different tones when hitting the head in different positions, and engage in classic techniques like cross-stick rim playing and brush sweeps. The triple-ply mesh head features a floating mid-layer structure, which provides a highly realistic response, and the head can be tuned via the eight tension lugs for optimal bounce. The triple-flanged hoops provide stability, and the rim is at the same height as standard acoustic snare drums. The PD-14DSX includes a connection cable and a drum key.
The PD-14DSX can also be used with the TD-50X module. Use with alternative sound modules may result in the loss of some functionality, such as positional sensing and some strainer controls.
