2x Anamorphic Zoom
Lightweight and compact, the Laowa Proteus 45-85mm T2.9 2x S35 Anamorphic Zoom from Venus Optics covers Super 35 sensors and is ideal for handheld, stabilizer use, and fast setups. Combined with the separately available Proteus 26-45mm zoom, the two lenses provide a wide, versatile 26-85mm range and a 3.27x zoom ratio.
Compact Design
The Proteus 45-85mm lens measures just 7.6" in length and weighs around 3.3 lb, providing a compact, portable form that makes it the lightest of available front anamorphic zooms.
Super 35+ Sensor Coverage
A 31.9mm image circle enables the Proteus 45-85mm zoom to cover a variety of Super 35 camera sensors, including ARRI ALEXA 35 Open Gate and RED V-RAPTOR 7K 6:5 formats.
Parfocal Design with Minimal Breathing
This parfocal lens maintains focus while zooming, letting you create various zoom effects. Optimal corner sharpness plus minimal breathing and distortion combine to create expressive images akin to the look of the Proteus Prime lenses.
Constant T2.9 Aperture
The Proteus zoom series maintains a T2.9 maximum aperture across the entire zoom range, ensuring optimal exposure and impressive sharpness, even in challenging lighting conditions.
Silver Anamorphic Flare Color
The Proteus zoom lenses offer superior optical performance without distracting color fringing, even when shooting at the maximum T2.9 aperture.
Minimal Aberration
Flare effects in silver create a sci-fi or vintage look that highlights the anamorphic style. One of three available options, the silver flare color, is indicated on the lens body.
Short Focus Distance
The 2x squeeze ratio renders an oval bokeh that gives an artistic touch, and the organic focus roll-off creates an appealing cinematic look.
ARRI PL and Canon EF Mounts
This Proteus zoom includes a native ARRI PL mount that can be swapped out with the included Canon EF mount and separately available interchangeable Canon RF, Nikon Z, Sony E, and L mounts.
Smooth Focus Roll-Off
Use the relatively short 35" close focus distance and T2.9 maximum aperture to create a shallower depth of field with a stronger sense of compression.
Optional 1.4x Expander
Use this Proteus zoom with the separately available 1.4x expander to cover full-frame sensor cameras without any noticeable effect in resolution.
77mm Filter Thread
Use the front thread to attach a 77mm filter directly to the lens, saving the weight of a matte box on your camera rig.
