Get experimental with your sound design with the remarkable Stylophone Stylosette, the portable touch-keyboard in a cassette tape form factor. Add space, depth, and wobble to your sound with built-in delay, vibrato, and small but mighty speaker.
The Stylosette features an expansion port underneath the keypad that allows you to connect to physical objects that conduct electricity to interact with the synthesizer engine. The Stylosette incudes two AAA batteries, eight cables with clips, and a mini screwdriver.
Core Controls
- Power—Turns the unit on or off. Always switch off when not in use to conserve battery life.
- Volume—Adjusts speaker output for quiet practice or full-room sound.
- Keyboard—A touch-sensitive surface linked to a voltage-controlled oscillator. Glide for smooth transitions, or tap for crisp, articulated notes.
- Octave and Tuning—Shift notes up or down by an octave or fine-tune for instrument matching.
- Phones (3.5mm Output)—Connects to headphones, amplifiers, or recording devices for expanded audio possibilities.
Sound Shaping
- Delay—Engages a built-in echo effect with adjustable time and repeats.
- Vibrato—Adds pitch modulation for a rich, dynamic tone.
- Depth—Controls the intensity of pitch wobble.
- Speed—Adjusts how fast the vibrato oscillates.
- Repeats and Time—Controls the number and duration of delay echoes, from subtle slapbacks to ambient textures.
Wild Keyboard
Use the included accessories kit to turn everyday objects into a keyboard. Simply connect with crocodile clips (included) to the expansion port underneath the keypad. Notes are played by touching the connected objects whilst the other hand is connected to the expansion port P14 Keypad Common. The Octave and Vibrato key pads can be activated in the same way.
Pentatonic Scale
You can play the pentatonic scale on the keyboard, which is five notes per octave. The notes have no semitones, so tension of playing notes outside the scale is removed, ensuring you can play any note next to another, and it will sound ok—great for improvisation.
