Do these devices overheat?

Do these devices overheat?
Asked by: Norman
It is possible to overheat the Crucial 6TB X10 USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Portable SSD as well as any other similar SSD as they will generate heat when in use. Usually, the enclosure is enough to dissipate the heat; however, if it is kept in a poorly ventilated space or hot environment, that can cause the unit to overheat and throttle transfer speeds.

The Crucial 6TB X10 USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Portable SSD, B&H # CRCT6X10SSD9, can be used to edit 4K video with a MacBook Pro with M4; keep in mind that the drive will only be able to reach up to 1000 MB/s on Apple laptops because they do not support the 2×2 protocol required to achieve the advertised speeds of 2100 MB/s.
