Magnu VH-1190 Overview

The VH-1190 Video Head with Vertical Tilt from Magnus can turn any photo tripod into a platform with features that will benefit videographers of any level. It's constructed with sturdy, high-grade aluminum that makes it perfect for withstanding frequent use by on-the-go image makers.

This video head features fluid-type movement that allows a constant camera speed for rapid or slow panning and tilting movements. It features a spring-loaded counterbalance system for smooth tilt shots that supports the weight of the camera, preventing it from tipping over. Locking knobs ensure dependable camera stability when mounted on a tripod. For rapid camera angle changes, the quick release assembly features a 90° vertical tilt for instantly changing from landscape to portrait camera orientation. An angle-adjustable and telescoping pan arm provides ergonomic control for DSLRs, mirrorless cameras, smartphone rigs, or camcorders. Dual integrated bubble levels make aligning your camera with the horizon fast and easy.

Fluid-Type Pan and Tilt Motion
For smooth and even pans and tilts, the VH-1190 features fluid-type motion, making it easy to follow the action with smooth movement, no matter how fast the camera is moving.
Spring-Loaded Counterbalance
The spring-loaded counterbalance produces tension that works against your camera's tilt. This feature allows for smooth tilts with cameras up to 11 lb. It also provides extra security for your camera by preventing it from tipping over.
90° Vertical Tilt
The quick release clamp features a built-in hinge that unlocks and swings up to a 90° angle that can switch from landscape to portrait orientation in the blink of an eye. The tilt lock will hold the clamp steady when you want to experiment with creative camera angles.
Camera Balance
The sliding quick release plate lets you find the perfect balancing point for your camera. Mark the point on the scale etched into the plate's side, then instantly find the balance point when you remount your camera.
Sliding Quick Release Plate
For effortless camera mounting and dismounting, attach the quick release plate and other VT-QRP50 plates (available separately) to all your cameras so you can quickly switch from shooting video to still photography in seconds.
Telescoping Pan Arm
The included pan arm allows precise control of your camera's movements for silky-smooth pan and tilt moves rather than shaky handheld operation. The arm extends from 9.1 to 14.2" to achieve the perfect length for your setup; a shorter length for a DSLR camera and a longer length for larger camcorders.
Auxiliary Sockets
The 1/4"-20 auxiliary sockets are built into opposite sides of the head for adding accessories like an articulating arm, LED, flash, or microphone to your setup. They're also useful for safekeeping the 1/4-20 mounting screw when it isn't in use.
Bubble Levels
Two bubble levels are built into the head, so whether you're shooting in landscape or portrait orientation, you can rapidly align your camera with the horizon without adjusting your tripod legs.

Solid, well made video head. I use ut with my Kowa TSN-88 Scope. Movement is smooth, predictable. I found it easy to position the scope and lock it down very accurately. Once locked the hold is very good. Pricing is excellent. I highly recommend

This Magnus VH-1190 feels impressively well built right out of the box. The aluminum construction is solid and everything from the knobs to the pan arm feels durable and made for regular use. It easily supports my camera setup without any flex or looseness, which is exactly what I want when mounting expensive gear. It is super impressive, especially for this price point. One of my favorite features is the vertical tilt function. Being able to quickly switch from landscape to portrait orientation is extremely useful, especially for social content or vertical video projects. The tilt mechanism feels strong and secure, and once locked, it holds the camera firmly in place without any slipping. It makes vertical shooting feel just as stable as traditional horizontal setups. The pan and tilt motion is smooth and controlled, whether I am doing slow cinematic moves or quicker adjustments. The counterbalance helps keep the camera steady during tilts and prevents sudden drops. I also appreciate the sliding quick release plate, which makes balancing different cameras fast and repeatable. Overall, this is a very solid and well-designed video head. The combination of excellent build quality, smooth pan/tilt control and the vertical tilt feature makes it especially useful for a video workflow.
