Shimoda Designs Core Unit Reviews

Got it for R6Mii mounted to RF 200-800

I purchased this cube so I could have my RF200-800 mounted and ready to use in field. I also purchased the Shimoda Action25 at the same time. I needed a bag and pack that I could also put under my plane seat. With this cube in, I am fairly certain it won't fit with the 17" max on the plane I'm taking, but without the large cube in it, the bag will fit. Assembled for in field use, I can easily one handed pull out my camera and lens by the tripod collar and access the 70-200 2.8 or the 1.4 tc from the side access pocket. I will be shooting from boats, kayaks and just hiking walking. I needed top access with small footprint for my main lens/body combo. The best part is I can have the lens hood mounted and ready to go. The R6mii sits about a 1/2" inch higher than the cube with the hood mounted.

Holds a holly trinity and one extra body

I got this unit because the RST that the Action X25 V2 comes with is too small for my needs. I was worried that it would not fit everything I had but I still gave it a try. I am very happy to share that the L25 RST can hold a holly trinity (mix of old and new lenses) with space to add a detach battery grip and other accessories or a DSLR body on its own. In the pictures you will see a R5 Mark ii with a 24-70 2.8 attached, 70-200 2.8 (version 1), and on the top right corner a 16-35 2.8 version 3. On the top left you can fit a detach battery grip with caps and the EF-R adapter or a 7D mark ii DSLR or equivalent camera. Sadly, you can't store the camera with the grip attached. But that is not a deal breaker. If you have newer R lenses, the available space will be more. But for a mixture of old and new lenses, this is perfect. It took me several tries to get the set up correct. But once I got it to where I felt I could bring everything I needed, it was perfect. I can bring everything I need for a soccer or basketball game, as well as all the equipment I need for astro or deep sky astrophotography and landscape photography. I am looking forward to have adventures with my Action X25 and this RST.
