Venus Optics Laowa 15mm f/4.5 Macro Reviews
Lightweight, super versatile lens
I was using older F mount version with my D850 for long time, and it has always been my favorite lens in nature photography. This newer version does almost same thing, and except one stop lower aperture everythings got really better. Lighter, no tilt-shift (it degrades the sharpness a lot, so never used) and the lens cap is compatible with my 105 mm Z macro lens. I had some problem in the item and B&H did promptly assisted me, and I am so happy with it!
Frustrating
Very frustrated. No infinity hard stop on my lens and focus peaking is unusable on the z6III. This lens is for tripod only and tons of patience, and you must use magnify or a large external monitor to get focus. This is not a handheld lens. This is not an astro lens. OTOH, the macro feature requires getting so close you will need external lights, as a ring light and mounted flash units don't work on this wide front element. Also the fit is so tight you may break your mount getting this off and on. Overall, I wish I had spent my money on something else. If you have money to burn and don't mind or can afford having 100 niche lenses you use maybe once a year, then buy this. BUT if you are on a budget and trying to get the most out of a few lenses, run away
