Redesigning the popular 7602 from the ground up while retracing the path of revered classics, the 7603 from Chameleon Labs is a rackmounted mic / line / Hi-Z preamp, EQ, and DI box for studios. Sporting extremely low noise, excellent dynamics, and 100% discrete, Class-A circuitry with 3-band inductor-based EQ control, this unit is an ideal starting point for any input signal.
The 7603 features fantastic audio specs thanks to new custom-wound input and output transformers with nickel laminations and bobbin assemblies. Combined with high-permeability Mu-Metal enclosures, this ensures your audio signals have absolutely minimal noise with maximum dynamics and bandwidth. Inputs include a front-panel Hi-Z input for passive or low-output instruments, an XLR mic input, and an XLR line input, with selectable 600- or 1200-ohm operation on the mic input. Controls include variable input gain, high and low-frequency shelving EQ with a mid-frequency boost/cut, output gain control, phase reversal, and selectable VU meter, just to name a few. A universal internal power supply ensures global power compatibility. And with a steel enclosure with aluminum front-panel and milled aluminum knobs, the 7603 is built to last. The 7603 is designed and built in North America.
The Model 7603 is based on high audio performance design techniques. By employing classic circuit design, film capacitors, a mechanical gain selector, and custom-wound transformers, Chameleon Labs ensures that the Model 7603 will exhibit classic audio sound.
