SmallRig 4851B Reviews

Excellent Little Monitor

I caught this SmallRig while on a flash sale and decided to purchase. Once it arrived it was super easy to set up. Simply connect your iPhone to the Wi-Fi on the monitor, then mirror your screen and that it! Super simple. I purchased and mainly use the monitor for interviewing people while on the go.. (News stories and community events) The only thing I wish was different (my only con) is the brightness of the screen. At night while interviewing people it's okay' but in the daytime, even with the brightness settings turned all the way up to the highest level, it's still dim and almost useless. BUT overall, I love it and use it all the time! It's a game changer for those who interview or like to record in selfie mode! Great product.

Shockingly good quality... at a crazy low price

Just buy it. I'm using this monitor professionally on a TV show I produce. A home fixit show (that has been running for 28+ years) and sometimes I need to get a camera into a super tight space, so I started using my iPhone for those shots... problem being that I could not see where the camera was pointed. This monitor fixed the problem. It is an awesome product. PROS: High quality monitor. Sturdy metal case and excellent quality manufacturing. Low Lag STRONG Magnet Easy to connect via screen sharing to iPhone. Reasonably nice phone clip included. Remote control for shooting photos and video was surprisingly good, and has way more versatility than you would imagine. CONS: (Barely worth mentioning, but just giving user feedback to Smallrig.) - The mini-tripod is Meh... (but truthfully, at this price, I wouldn't have expected any accessories at all) - Small gripe... the metal case is slippery... could be easy to drop this thing... would love it if they either added a rubber strip to an edge or made the edges textured. - Another small gripe: I think they should add a raised border around the edge of the screen... the screen is completely flush with the face of the case. if the monitor is placed (or lands) face down, the screen will feel it. Even just an ⅛ raised border as part of the metal case, would be a huge improvement.

Can this SmallRig device do this wireless video using a Apple iPad via Bluetooth as if it were an iPhone..?
Asked by: Robert
The Smallrig monitor starts with a QR code on screen that, when scanned with the iPhone camera, initiates a Wi-Fi connection between the iPhone and monitor. You then swipe diagonally on the iPhone to engage the Control Center where you open screen monitoring. You should be able to achieve the same connection with an iPad.
