This lens is just fantastic at all apertures on the fuji 40mp sensors. It is also so tiny and light, this is why you buy it, not for the optics alone.
It is not worth full retail, however as a kit lens its great value.

The FUJIFILM XF 23mm f/2.8 R WR Lens (FUJIFILM X, Black) does produce noise when focusing. Note: The FUJIFILM XF 27mm f/2.8 R WR Lens produces noise as well.

The FUJIFILM XF 23mm f/2.8 R WR Lens (FUJIFILM X, Black) has a 39mm filter thread which would allow for use of filters and step-up rings.
