I haven't used this lens extensively yet. So far it is a great little lens - wide, fast, light and has an aperture ring. Plastic construction, so time will tell how well it holds up, but the feel of the focus and aperture rings are good. It will make a great travel, landscape and perhaps astrophotography lens.

ld you explain the practical differences between the Sigma 12mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary and the Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary for astrophotography? In particular, I would like to know how they compare in terms of: Milky Way composition and field of view Sharpness across the frame, especially in the corners Coma and star quality near the edges Light-gathering performance and low-light image quality Overall suitability for Milky Way photography on a Canon R7 (APS-C) Which lens would you personally recommend for a Canon R7 user whose primary goal is capturing high-quality Milky Way and night-sky landscape images? Thank you for your help.

Both the Sigma 12mm f/1.4 DC Contemporary Lens (Canon RF) and the Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary Lens (Sony E) are very similar for Milky Way shots. The advantage of the 12 mm lens is that it allows for longer shutter speeds without causing star trailing. The 16mm does have better edge sharpness and has less distortion than the 12mm. Meaning both lenses have their advantages.
