MSI X870E-P WiFi Overview

Designed with professionals in mind, the MSI PRO X870E-P WIFI AM5 ATX Motherboard provides a foundation for content creation performance. Supporting AMD 7000, 8000, and 9000 series processors with the AM5 socket, this motherboard can be outfitted to smoothly handle demanding applications and AI-enhanced workloads.

MSI's EZ technology makes it easy to install one M.2 PCIe 5.0 SSD and two PCIe 4.0 drives to store your games library, applications, and important files. Four DDR5 DIMM slots are available for up to 256GB of memory, which may be overclocked for higher performance. With one PCIe 5.0 x16 slot, one PCIe 4.0 x16 (x4) slot, one PCIe 3.0 x16 (x1) slot, and one PCIe 3.0 x1 slot you can add a graphics card and other compatible expansions.

The rear panel features a USB4 port that can transfer up to 40 Gb/s with compatible devices or connect a USB-C compatible 8K display. A second USB-C port works with 20 Gb/s devices, and there are two 10 Gb/s compatible USB-A ports. You can reserve the two 5 Gb/s USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports and the four USB 2.0 ports for peripherals such as mice, keyboards, and webcams. An internal header allows you to use a 10 Gb/s USB-C port, four 5 Gb/s USB-A ports, and six USB 2.0 ports on the front panel. Built-in Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) support with a magnetic antenna and a 5 Gb/s Ethernet port provide you with connections to compatible network devices for smooth video streaming and low-latency online games. Windows 11 64-bit is required to take advantage of all the motherboard's features.

EZ Installation
EZ M.2 Shield FROZR II
EZ M.2 Shield FROZR II tool-free cooling solution helps to protect your SSD while maintaining optimal performance. Two notches on the back of the heat sink provide precise alignment with the motherboard, allowing you to single-handedly install or remove an M.2 SSD.
EZ M.2 Clip II
MSI's EZ M.2 CLIP II makes SSD installation seamless. Insert the SSD into the M.2 slot and press it down to lock it in place with the clip. Flicking the clip outward lets you remove the SSD. Use the EZ M.2 Clip II remover tool to detach or reposition the clip on the motherboard.
EZ GPU Installation
The EZ PCIe Clip II, located on the first slot, features a rebounding force mechanism that allows for easy removal of the graphics card by pressing the tail-like lock with one finger. Due to this design, users can uninstall the graphics cards effortlessly, even in the cramped case spaces.

Optimized PCB Design

EZ OC Tuning
  • MSI's Performance Preset allows you to easily boost performance by setting the power limitations.
  • The Performance Switch combines AMD's Precision Boost Overdrive (PBO) technology with MSI's own overlocking settings for higher CPU performance.
  • MSI PBO Thermal Point settings provide maximum CPU temperature levels, allowing it to operate at lower voltage but maintain the same performance.
  • Config TDP is designed to provide an ECO Mode (65W) or a different TDP (PPT/TDC/EDC) setting for advanced users.

    Transient Voltage Suppressors (TVS)
    Transient Voltage Suppressors (TVS) are safety devices used to protect against excessive voltage. All motherboard models of MSI are equipped with TVS. When the voltage abnormally rises, the TVS switches from a high-resistance state to a low-resistance state, diverting the excessive voltage to ground. This helps prevent circuit damage caused by high voltage.

    Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) introduces higher speeds, wider channels, improved efficiency, and reduced latency over Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax), with maximum speeds of up to 5.8 Gb/s. Utilizing 320 MHz on the 6 GHz band ensures reliability during simultaneous transmissions at max speeds and the 4096 QAM boosts peak transmission rates and network capacity. Multi-Link Operation enables devices to simultaneously send and receive data across several frequency bands and channels to meet traffic demands and the growing number of wireless devices.
