The JoeCo BandMate is a dedicated 24-channel backing track playback system with MIDI designed to deliver dependable performance for live musicians. Built as a reliable alternative to laptop-based playback, BandMate provides robust, easy-to-operate hardware that ensures your backing tracks and MIDI cues run smoothly gig after gig. With 24 channels of audio playback and MIDI control for devices such as effects pedals and lighting controllers, BandMate becomes a powerful centerpiece for modern live productions.
Reliable Laptop-Free Playback
BandMate is designed to simplify live performances while eliminating the risks associated with computer-based playback systems. The unit plays back 24 channels of audio alongside MIDI data, enabling musicians to trigger lighting cues, automate effects, and control other stage equipment directly from the same device that runs their backing tracks. Audio and MIDI files, along with playlists, are stored on a local USB memory stick, keeping the system streamlined and dependable.
Effortless Setlist Management
Preparing for a show is simple using the BandMate Loader desktop application for macOS and Windows. The software organizes WAV audio files and creates structured playlists ready for performance. Track Loader arranges the source files for each song, while the Playlist Editor assembles them into setlists for the gig. Once the USB drive is inserted into the BandMate, songs load automatically in setlist order, allowing performers to focus on the show rather than managing playback.
Flexible Control On Stage
BandMate offers multiple control options to suit different performance setups. Playback can be triggered directly from the front panel, via footswitch, through MIDI commands, or remotely using the BandMate Remote app for iOS and Android. The Remote app allows users to create or modify playlists, start or pause songs, skip tracks, adjust output levels, and control playback from a mobile device. While only one device controls the system at a time, other band members can connect to view the interface.
Professional Output and Monitoring
The hardware unit provides 24 balanced analog outputs designed to feed a stage box or mixing console for fully discrete playback. Outputs 23 and 24 can also be sent to an unbalanced stereo TRS jack, delivering a convenient mixed stereo output for smaller PA systems. Built-in protection circuitry safeguards the outputs from phantom power, while an earth-lift switch helps eliminate ground-loop issues. A large front-panel LCD display shows playlist information, current song details, playback time, and the next track, while LED indicators confirm signal presence on each channel.
