DJI takes its fixed drone housing solution and adds mobility with the DJI Dock 3. Now, you can have a Dock on the back of a truck, letting you quickly reach remote locations where it's not practical to place a more permanent Dock installation. The addition of vehicle mounting is an ideal solution for singular remote enterprise or first responder missions, but the Dock 3 can still be fixed in place for 24/7 operation. Like previous models, the Dock 3 provides a weather-resistant housing for the Matrice, where pilots can remotely deploy the drone or have missions conducted completely autonomously.
Autonomous Flight
Dock 3 gives the Matrice 4D or 4TD a weather-resistant and climate-controlled home as it waits to conduct remotely-controlled or scheduled missions. During a scheduled deployment, everything happens automatically. The Dock 3 will open, the Matrice will take off, come back, and land within the Dock 3. Sliding ramps within the Dock 3 help to accurately land the drone, accommodating for slight variances in its final positioning. Once inside, the doors close and the recharging process begins.
Vehicle Mounting
The new ability for vehicle mounting opens up many more possibilities for drone deployment. In addition to horizontal and cloud-based calibration, DJI enhanced the structure, components, and air conditioning system to withstand the rigors and vibration of riding attached to the back of a vehicle. For additional security, Dock 3 works with the optional DJI Dock 3 Vehicle-Mounted Gimbal Mount that provides extra stability to the drone and gimbal when driven in a vehicle.
All-Weather Construction
Whether fixed in position 24/7 or on a vehicle for a singular assignment, the Dock 3 will protect the Matrice 4D or 4TD drone until it's time to fly. The structure is IP56-rated for both water and dust resistance, and able to withstand extreme temperatures. It can handle blazing heat up to 122°F or bitter cold down to -22°F. Electronic components are safely encapsulated, and integrated air conditioning keeps internal temperatures in check.
Dual-Dock Deployment
Long missions can benefit from continuous drone coverage when pairing two Dock 3 enclosures together. In this dual-drone rotation, a special takeover flight pattern is used where one will dock as the other takes off, allowing for efficient operation and avoidance of drone-to-drone collision.
