Carry your camera gear and other necessities in this 30L Everyday Backpack from Peak Design. This versatile bag is designed for photographers, multimedia creators, or anyone seeking a pack that is size adjustable and compressible. Multiple magnetic latches on the top flap allow you to adjust the height of the pack from 20.4 to 24.5". The interior has three dividers so you can stack items in the main compartment. The dividers have foldout surfaces that can be configured to cushion and hold items against the pack's zippered side openings. The side openings are positioned to face you when the bag is rotated from back to front with either side facing upward. The dividers allow you to choose which items you want quick access to from the sides.

Does this backpack stand upright on the floor?
Yes, the Peak Design Everyday v2 Backpacks (20L and 30L) do stand upright on their own. From testing here at the store, we were able to do it most of the time, but if overpacked and not properly weight-distributed it does take a few attempts.

How does this compare to the mindshift or mckinnon - cross-shopping all 3?
Unfortunately, all bags have their merits and it's hard to do a precise comparison of all three based on your use case. I'd recommend giving us a call or live-chatting with us and we can discuss them and potentially other options that would suit your needs!

I like this back, but it is difficult to configure the dividers in such a way that all my Nikon Z 7II great is secure and not shifting around. I tried a Domke insert on a few trips, it worked OK, but Domke compartments a bit small for wide angle zooms. Are there any other solutions? Peak Design cubes do not seem to be made for this bag.
You can use wraps to protect your gear--even with extra room in a pack, wraps will keep cameras and lenses safe:
