On the video introduction a button is seen on the side. What settings can it be used for?
Asked by: Thomas
The button on the Tamron 16-30mm f/2.8 Di III VXD G2 Lens (Nikon Z) is called the focus set button. By using the Tamron lens utility software and connecting the lens to a computer via USB cable, you can set that button to different functionality. You can use it to select autofocus or manual focus. You can also have it toggle between two focus points with A-B Focus. It can also be used to assign a function from the camera, be a focus preset, be a focus stopper, or even be astro FC-L, where the lens will focus at infinity to have the stars in the night sky in focus.

Is this lens compatible with z8 firmware 3.0 or must the firmware be updated to 3.10
Asked by: steven
The Tamron 16-30mm f/2.8 Di III VXD G2 Lens (Nikon Z) (B&H# TA163028N) should be used on a Nikon Z8 Mirrorless Camera (B&H# NIZ8) with firmware version 3.01 or 3.10 (or later) installed. That is necessary if you are currently using version 3.0. However, the firmware should not be updated while a third party lens (such as a Tamron, Viltrox, etc.) is mounted to the camera.
