One of the worst ball heads I have ever used. Do not buy.

I don't like to put bad or negative reviews towards camera equipment. A lot of these companies are doing their best to make the best product for desired customers. So it's baffling that Peak Design decided this expensive piece of equipment was up to par with their great products. I had my camera and lens setup on the Peak Design Pro Tall Carbon Fiber Tripod with the PD Tilt Mod Ball Head. Now, on B&H, it says the weight limit on the PD Ball Head is roughly 40lbs, which is way more than I need. My camera setup is probably around 8-9 lbs, so not too crazy for the PD Ball head. I was moving the tripod with my camera attached across the room I was shooting at when BAM! The PD Ball Head tilt gave out and my camera tilted backward and smacked my head! I didn't even have the tripod slung on one of my shoulder or anything. I picked it up normally with legs of equal distance to the ground, so weight distribution was balanced. Even cranking the tightening knob for the tilt did nothing to prevent it from locking. Just a terrible product from a usually professional grade company. Peak Design can deliver amazing products, but this one ain't it.

Will this also work with the Peak Design Travel Tripod (either Carbon Fiber or Aluminum version) not just the Pro Tripods?

According to the manufacturer, the Peak Design Tilt Mod Ball Head Video Adapter for Pro Tripods is not compatible with the Peak Design travel tripods.

Can the protruding screws on both sides of the clamp be removed?

The alignment pins on either end of the Arca clamp of the Peak Design Tilt Mod Ball Head Video Adapter can be removed if needed.

Can this be combined with leveling module and can various leg sizes/max height versions be purchased without ball head?

No, the Peak Design Tilt Mod cannot be used with the Leveling Base. The Tilt Mod requires the ball head while the Leveling Module replaces it. And Peak Design does not sell the tripod legs (Pro, Pro Lite, Pro Tall) separately without the ball head.
