Peak Design Pro Lite Tripod Reviews

Great tripod

Still nice and compact - ( but not as small as the travel) but do-able. Stronger and sturdier for my Astro photography and travel with a star tracker compared to my travel carbon fiber PD tripod. I wish it was as small as my Travel PD tripod but definitely I need a sturdier one like this PRO PD tripod for my new project pending in Australia. Love the new ball head design and attachment mechanism.

Bomb Proof Even In Harsh Conditions.

I bought the Pro Tall to take on a recent two week trip to Mongolia to photograph snow leopards. I wanted something lighter weight than my other full sized tripods since I would be hiking but it had to be sturdy enough to support a Nikon Z9, 600 f4 TC and a 2x TC in windy conditions. I also wanted a full size tripod because I would likely be setting up on steep unlevel ground and would need the downhill leg fully extended. Spiked feet for snow and loose rock were another consideration along with quick release levers for gloved hands, Weighing in at around 4 lbs. with the pro leveling base, it is compact enough to strap onto the side of backpack and with the afore mentioned requirements, this tripod worked almost flawlessly. I say "almost" because the quick release levers were a bit tricky to open with very thick cold weather gloves or mitts. Using thinner liners or bare hands there were zero problems. With the legs fully extended, it had no problem securely holding the camera and a large telephoto lens. Using it one night for some astro photography with a 14-24mm lens at -30 F in swirling winds, resulted in zero movement. Was it worth the price? Absolutely. This will be my go to tripod for my upcoming trips.
