From Manufacturer
Ideal for engineers engaged in headphone-based monitoring, this B&H Kit includes one Neumann NDH 20 Black Edition Headphones with the RIME immersive binaural monitoring plug-in. This kit provides high-quality, professional headphones buoyed by a plug-in that allows for headphone monitoring of stereo, surround, and immersive formats up to 7.1.4.
Designed for tracking, mixing, and critical listening, the Neumann NDH 20 Black Edition Headphones offer a closed-back circumaural fit as well as a delineated sonic image. In addition to the sleek black styling with prominent L and R letters on the earcups, this Black Edition includes a detachable, internally balanced cable that's designed to minimize crosstalk while increasing spatial resolution. The headphones make use of 38mm drivers that employ a high-gauss neodymium magnet to ensure a response devoid of distortion and coloration. They provide a frequency response of 5 Hz to 30 kHz.
Many other closed-back headphones supply nasty resonances in the midrange, which inhibit your ability to make accurately informed mixing decisions. This pair was designed to avoid such pitfalls to give you a sound and soundstage similar to that of Neumann's line of studio loudspeakers.
The NDH 20's adjustable headband is constructed from steel, while the earcups are fashioned out of lightweight aluminum. On the earpads, you get cushioning memory foam that supplies hours of comfort. When you're not using the headphones, simply fold them up and put them in the included soft-cloth bag. The internally balanced cable features a 3.5mm connector and a 1/4" adapter is also supplied.
- Styled in elegant black with easy-to-see L and R lettering on the earcups
- Includes internally balanced cable for less crosstalk and better spatial resolution
- Linear sound balance similar to Neumann's acclaimed studio monitors
- Isolation allows working in noisy environments
- Transparent sound
- Long-lasting comfort
- Easy transportation thanks to foldable design and soft-cloth bag
Designed to enable confident mixing with Neumann headphones in a variety of audio formats, RIME is a virtual monitoring plug-in for DAWs that outputs a 3D binaural signal from any input signal. Supporting stereo, immersive, and surround formats up to 7.1.4, RIME provides a precisely tuned reference space for reliable mixing that translates perfectly to other playback systems.
Unlike other immersive virtual monitoring systems, RIME is not a mere simulation, but a product of meticulous capture by Neumann engineers, and specifically designed for Neumann headphones. By providing a single reference space, you get more consistent results than solutions with numerous alternate monitoring spaces. All signals are converted to a binaural output, including stereo. Surround and immersive formats provide rear and height channel information. You can adjust speaker position, 2-band shelving EQ, interaural time delay, room ambience, gain, and more with the easy-to-use GUI. This plug-in also provides OSC support for compatible head-tracking devices. RIME is available in VST3, AU, and AAX plug-in formats and supports Mac and Windows computers.
Note: this plug-in is intended for use with Neumann headphones only and is not designed for use with 3rd-party headphone brands.
- Converts audio to binaural 3D audio for Neumann headphones
- Customizable headphone profile, speaker placement, and more
- Adjustable 2-band shelving EQ, master gain, ambience, channel level, and head tracking
- Monitor stereo, immersive, and surround formats up to 7.1.4 via headphones
- Rear and height channel information for surround and immersive formats
- Consistent 3D sound field, no coloration or phasing
- Excellent spatial resolution with precise localization
- Reproduces real control room, which is captured not simulated
- Simple, easy-to-understand GUI
- Supports OSC-compatible head-tracker devices
So, while other solutions confound the user with a slew of virtual spaces, each giving a different impression, RIME presents one reference room in ultimate quality as a single source of truth. RIME thus offers reliable monitoring that translates perfectly to all playback systems.
Stereo signals can be monitored with a loudspeaker-like listening experience without the in-head localization typically associated with headphones. This enables users to check their mixes for loudspeaker compatibility.
