The ScanSnap iX2500 includes a limited 4-year warranty that offers mail-in repair and one-way shipment return when servicing is needed.

The iX2500 is equipped with a brake roller feature and an ultrasonic multi-feed sensor. These features ensure smooth and stable paper feeding and reliable multi-feed detection. I has searched for a photo scanner, compared them, hemmed and hawed for a bit. I made the decision to purchase one, and although this was not my first choice, it fit my budget, expectations, and was available. I was surprised at how user friendly this unit is. The purpose for getting a photo scanner is to digitize the huge amount of photos I have inherited from the family over the years. Ill be honest, after a bunch of the reviews said it was not Mac friendly I was a little dubious, but I have to get this project started. So i made the choice, and have been very pleased with the results thus far. It turns out the software and drivers are Mac friendly, and I was easily able to complete the setup in under 2 hours. The only reason it took 2 hours was that I had to download the install package, install the device, which happened without a problem, and then get the updated software package and update the firmware. Since I set it up in a wireless configuration, it took a bit to get all the data to where it needed to go. That being said, I have scanned some photos and documents and am satisfied with the scan quality and speed. And the actual picture and document handling. The only problem I have had was when I was trying to scan some photos that were mounted on a heavy mat board, too much for it to handle. So my fault on that. So all in all, I am pleased with the product so far. As i am learning about how it works, I am gaining the skills and understanding to get it to do what I want it to. As I have done more research, I am finding i should scan to a .tiff format not a .jpg, something about file degradation over time. This software, so far, does not scan to a tiff format, but I am not documenting the signing of the constitution, so I think I'll be ok. I'm sure that if I got enthusiastic, there is a 2nd party Mac software that would do this... but I'm not there yet. May follow up as needed, but for the first couple of weeks, I am happy with the product.

The Ricoh ScanSnap iX2500 Premium Bundle Scanner (B&H# RIIX2500PBDS) has just one difference with the Ricoh ScanSnap iX2500 Document Scanner (Black) (B&H# RIIX2500B) which is just the inclusion of a four-year depot protection plan. That plan allows for mail-in repair and one-way shipment return on scanners that require servicing.

The Ricoh ScanSnap iX2500 Document Scanner (Photo Edition) can scan photos up to 8.5x14 inches when using the included carrier sheets.
