Peak Design Cuff Rope Wrist Strap Reviews

Buyer beware

I usually love Peak Design but I have to agree with the other reviews about the new anchor connections being a failure. I posted this on the page for the rope neck strap too because this is not an issue of receiving a lemon. The new design seems to have cut away some important materials so it seems like another victim of overzealous cost cutting. The version of the connectors before had a backing plate so there was something to press against to get the anchor out but now that is gone so when you squeeze it to slide the anchor out you are working against yourself. The only way I can get them to release is if I use one hand to brace the connector on the sides and the other to slide out the anchor. They seem to have slimmed down the design so the old anchors are incredibly difficult to get out and even the anchors that come with the new one need two hands to release. The whole idea I have loved about these since the first Kickstarter was that I could hold the camera with one hand and release it with the other hand, now I have to put the camera down to get these new connectors off which isn’t always ideal in the field. I really like the rope and the new colors so I will probably keep the item but I think I will end up leaving the anchor attached to a QD system so I can still get the strap off with one hand. I will not be considering buying anything else from the Peak Design anchor system until I hear about them changing this. Really sad to see Peak Design embracing enshittification so strongly.

Older Cuff users, you’re doing it wrong!

I’ve been using the original cuff for years switching between 2 cameras depending on which I took out with me that day, while I still think it’s good I always found it fiddle to use taking my hand in and out of it and sometimes got in the way while using the camera… The new Rope Cuff is MUCH better, easier to take my hand in and out off, adjustable minimum tightness so if the camera slips out of your hand or you need to use you hand and need to let the camera dangle it doesn’t uncomfortably pull tight to your wrist, not to mention the new lower profile anchor attachment which is also an improvement over the old type within itself! Apart from being small in size, despite what other reviewers have mentioned about being worse it’s actually better, no difference in actual use a long as you press the release in the right place which is in fact the exact same place as the older model, your finger just isn’t guided there because of the lower profile flat design! Time to measure up for a Rope Strap next, although I think PD should make an adjustable version of that similar to the Mobile Crossbody Strap

Anyone know if this fits a Leica Q3? The thread holes on Leica are that little bit smaller.

I used dental floss to pull the connector through the smaller eyelet on my Leica M11M.

Will the new anchor scratch camera body? I heard v4 used to do that.
Asked by: Eric
In this new design, the metal portion is more recessed in its plastic housing so the exposure to the metal is less likely to scratch. In all honesty, I used the previous design for 2+ years without a single scuff, scratch or rub mark on my Leica M11M.
