Icon Pro Audio UFO Overview

Marrying vintage analog tone with modern design, the Icon Pro Audio UFO is a discrete, Class-A tube mic preamp with a modular tube design that allows you to easily swap out the tube with an alternative for different tonal characters. With up to 68 dB of clean gain and extremely low noise, this mic preamp provides precise sound quality and a large dynamic range.

The mic pre sports several button-activated features including +48V phantom power, mic/instrument input selection, a -20 dB input pad, and a polarity reverse function. The UFO mic pre features an XLR 3-pin mic input, a 1/4" instrument input, and an XLR 3-pin output. Power is provided via the power supply and a secure mini-XLR connector. The front panel features a large, tactile gain-control knob and an illuminated vintage-style VU meter. The UFO microphone preamp includes four swappable vacuum tubes (one preinstalled), a mini-XLR power cable, and a power supply.

Classic Tone with Versatile Options
Boasting classic tube tones, the UFO preamp features a replaceable tube architecture paired with four tubes of different characteristics, capable of meeting various tonal needs such as pure transparency, warm saturation, and rich vintage midrange. It is suitable for recording various sources, including vocals and guitar. Replacing a tube is an easy, tool-free experience: simply remove the spring-mounted transparent cover and the replacement can be completed in seconds.
Low Noise, Precise Sound Quality
Adopting discrete circuitry without any integrated circuits, the UFO preamp sports an EIN of -130 dB at a 50-ohm load and a THD of only 0.005%. Equipped with audiophile-grade, low-noise metal film resistors and polystyrene capacitors, the UFO ensures clear and precise sound quality.
High-Performance Capabilities
This mic pre offers up to 68 dB of gain, a 131 dB dynamic range, and a frequency response of 10 Hz to 100 kHz, making it capable of handling any mic or instrument in the studio.
