ASUS RTX 5080 Astral OC Overview

Inspired by the limitless expanse and beauty of the cosmos, the ASUS GeForce RTX 5080 Republic of Gamers Astral White OC Graphics Card explores a new frontier for gaming by delivering real-time ray tracing and the power of AI to your favorite PC titles. The ROG Astral White OC is the first ROG quad-fan graphics card, which is coupled with a patented vapor chamber, increased heatsink fin density, and a phase-change GPU thermal pad for optimal cooling.
Based on the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture, this GPU features 16GB of GDDR7 VRAM and a 256-bit memory interface, offering improved performance over the previous Ada Lovelace-based generation. The front panel of the card features DisplayPort 2.1 and HDMI 2.1 outputs. The RTX 5080 is not just about high-resolution gaming. Computationally intensive programs can utilize the GPU's 10,752 cores to accelerate tasks using CUDA and other APIs.
Quad-Fan Force
The ROG Astral White features a revolutionary four-fan design, which creates a powerful vertical airflow channel that boosts air pressure by up to 20%. This results in optimal thermal performance that dramatically lowers GPU temperatures and minimizes hotspots, enabling high clock speeds. The addition of a fourth fan means more densely packed heatsink fans for increased cooling potential.

A patented vapor chamber designed with milled pathways allows heatpipes to sink in without flattening, boosting heat dissipation efficiency. The MaxContact design effectively increases the surface area of the GPU heat spreader by 5% for improved thermal efficiency. By melting to effectively fill the gaps between the GPU and the thermal module, a premium phase-change GPU thermal pad provides optimal thermal conductivity and enhanced heat dissipation, ensuring optimal performance and longevity for graphics cards under heavy loads.
FanConnect II
There are two PWM FanConnect headers that provide additional DIY flexibility.

Chassis fans can be directly synced with the ROG Astral White OC.

The chassis fans can also be tuned with a curve that is based on CPU and GPU temperatures, delivering extra intake or exhaust for demanding 3D tasks.
Dual BIOS
Do you prioritize low core temps or low noise levels?

Performance mode lets the fans spin up to keep the card running cool all the time.

Quiet mode keeps the same power target and top-end settings while offering a less aggressive fan curve for quieter operation at medium temperatures.
Aura Sync
With indirect Aura Sync ARGB lighting, the ROG Astral White OC provides endless possibilities for personalization with color or functional effects. Aura is a one stop shop for controlling anything RGB on your system.

Depending on your platform and accessories, you can use the Aura Sync utility to sync your GPU lights with your keyboard, monitor, motherboard, case lights, and more.

Powerful AI Performance
The GeForce RTX 50-Series GPUs can create generative AI models at twice the speed of the previous generation with a smaller memory footprint, enabling powerful video editing, 3D rendering, and design tools.

You can render large 3D scenes in real-time and create complex animations with ray tracing using compatible GPU-accelerated applications such as Autodesk 3ds Max, Maya, Maxon Cinema 4D, and Blender. Visualize photorealistic materials as you create them and experience near lag-free interaction in addition to using tools such as AI-enhanced denoising and frame-boosting with DLSS 3.

ASUS RTX 5080 Astral OC Reviews

Absolutely fantastic in white

Absolutely stunning. Original Astral was pretty but in white it’s on another level. Performance wise it’s still great for 1440 and 4K gaming. Highly recommended.

Loving it so far.

I've had this graphics card for about a month now. So far, I'm very pleased with the performance. I'm running it with a ROG Strix motherboard utilizing a Noctua air-cooled Intel Core 7 Ultra processor. PSU is a ROG Thor 1000 W in an Antec case. Hard drive is a WD Black series SSD. Currently using it primarily for gaming with a 1080p monitor. I'm aware that the graphics card is probably overkill for how I'm currently gaming, but I wanted to future proof it in case I decide to upgrade to a 4K monitor with better resolution and for future games that will likely require more processing power. When I do a PC build, I like to build it to last with high quality components and an eye for future-proofing and this GPU absolutely fit the bill without going completely out of my budget. All games I've tested have been able to run with ultra high quality graphics. Tested Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, Marvel Rivals, Baldur's Gate 3, and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Every game I've tested looks absolutely gorgeous and performs wonderfully, especially compared to the PC it's replacing, though admittedly that's not saying much considering the old rig is 10-years-old. One of the reasons I went with ASUS for several of my components is because my 10-year-old PC runs an ASUS Strix off an ASUS motherboard and that build lasted 10 years. The only components I had to replace were the CMOS battery, keyboards, mice, and the monitor after I accidentally stepped it. (I won't tell you how I managed that.) I've been consistently impressed with the quality and longevity of ASUS's products, and I essentially wanted to do a more upscale version of my old rig. (It still runs, it's just outdated and can't run the current version of Windows. Or certain games I want to play...) As for price and availability... I wasn't thrilled that I had to get on a waiting list to grab one, or that the price was over $1900 including taxes and shipping. That said, I was only on the waiting list for a week or two before B&H got more in stock, and I immediately took advantage of it when I received the e-mail. I had no problems with how B&H handled their waiting list. As for the price... it's definitely currently being impacted by inflation and there is likely some artificial bloat in the expense. That said... I budgeted the build in advance with this in mind and I really am happy with the graphics card so far. I was able to accomplish my goal of building an upscale version of my old PC in case tariffs impacted the supply chain to the extent where availability and expense made building a respectable, but not necessarily elite rig impossible, and I'm looking forward to making good use of my new build for the foreseeable future. Overall, I do recommend it if you can afford it. There is some artificial price inflation and there are availability issues, but it is a high-end graphics card and it does seem to perform well on a build that uses high-end, but not necessarily elite components. I expect it will have good longevity like its predecessor and that I'll get many years of use out of it. It seems to be a quality product and it runs beautifully. For mid-tier 1080p gaming, it admittedly isn't being used to its full potential, but it does work and if you're looking to future proof or potentially upgrade to a better monitor down the line, like I am, this is not a bad choice.
