Zoom H6studio 6-Track Handy Recorder with 32-Bit Float Recording
The Zoom H6studio brings studio-grade sound to any environment. Featuring large-diaphragm XY microphones, four ultraclean F-Series preamps, and 32-bit float recording with dedicated gain knobs, it's the most advanced Handy Recorder Zoom has ever made. Built with F-Series technology, the H6studio ensures every take is pristine, whether you're capturing music, film audio, podcasts, or field recordings.
Pro Audio Every Time You Press Record
  • The H6studio’s F-Series preamps deliver exceptional clarity with an impressive -127 dBu EIN. Dual A/D converters and 32-bit float recording provide 132 dB of dynamic range, so even the most delicate details are preserved without distortion.
  • The 19.4mm X/Y microphones capture a flat, natural frequency response and handle up to 140 dB SPL—enough for everything from quiet acoustic performances to roaring jet engines. Their stacked 90º arrangement minimizes phase cancellation, producing a clean, focused stereo image.
  • For maximum flexibility, the H6studio lets you toggle between 32-bit float for limitless headroom and 16-/24-bit formats for instantly usable files. Dedicated gain knobs and a format switch make adapting to different workflows fast and intuitive.
Recording Power and Flexibility
  • The H6studio captures up to 8 tracks at once—6 individual inputs plus a stereo mix—at sampling rates from 44.1 to 192 kHz (8 tracks at 96 kHz, 6 tracks at 192 kHz). RF shielding blocks interference from smartphones and Wi-Fi, while shockmounted capsules reduce handling noise.
  • Lookahead limiters deliver clean, peak-free results in 16-/24-bit mode and smooth performance in 32-bit float. Four locking XLR/TRS inputs provide +48V phantom power and +4 dBu line-level support, with an additional stereo mini jack for plug-in powered microphones.
  • The Capsule System 3.0 expands flexibility with support for 32-bit float and a wide range of interchangeable microphone and input modules, including the WLM-1 dual-channel wireless system.
Features and Accessibility
  • The H6studio makes monitoring simple with real-time peak and waveform displays, plus multiple output options including a powerful headphone jack, stereo line out, and onboard speaker for instant playback.
  • A full suite of recording tools is built in, including mono mode, a low-cut filter, file normalization, variable speed playback, A-B repeat, and a start tone for syncing audio to video. Record directly to microSDHC/microSDXC cards with support for capacities up to 2TB.
  • For extended sessions, the H6studio runs up to 15 hours on four AA batteries or can be powered via USB or AC adapter. Accessibility features offer audible menu navigation in multiple languages, ensuring ease of use for visually impaired users.
USB Audio Interface and Timecode
  • Use the H6studio as a 6-in / 2-out USB audio interface for Mac, Windows, iOS, and Android supporting 32-bit float and 16/24-bit recording. Stream and simultaneously record a backup to the microSD card.
  • The optional TCA-1 timecode adapter generates and outputs timecode or jams to an external clock with 0.5 ppm accuracy. You can also receive wireless timecode from the ATOMOS UltraSync BLUE using the TCA-1 or the BTA-1 Bluetooth adapter (both available separately).
  • The BTA-1 also lets you use the Zoom Handy Control & Sync app for iOS to remotely manage multiple Zoom recorders, control start/stop, and synchronize timecode effortlessly.
Optional Accessory Pack
The separately available APH-6st pack includes a padded case, furry windscreen, AC adapter, and USB-C cable for a complete field-ready setup.
Sennheiser MKE 600 Shotgun Microphone

Upgrade the audio quality in your video productions by switching from the built-in mic on your camera to the Sennheiser MKE 600 battery- or phantom-powered shotgun microphone. Its focused directional characteristics and resistance to structure-borne noise offer sonic results well suited to a variety of production scenarios from independent films and web series to nature shows and documentaries.

The MKE 600's high sensitivity and low-noise circuitry unlock improved sound quality without extreme gain on noisy camera preamps. With a natural roll-off at 40 Hz and a selectable low-cut filter at 100 Hz, the MKE 600 can deliver clear intelligibility while attenuating low-frequency noise such as rumble. Plus, its frequency response incorporates a gentle rise in treble to enhance speech clarity.

The lightweight and durable metal housing ensures reliable toughness without weighing down your rig. The included shoe shockmount accommodates mounting the MKE 600 to a camera or tripod. Connect the mic's XLR output to an XLR-equipped mic preamp or use the supplied adapter cable to plug it into the 3.5mm mic input on a camera.

Quality Sound
The 10" long MKE 600 uses an interference tube and a supercardioid/lobar polar pattern to provide pronounced directivity on-axis along with significant attenuation of sound entering at the sides and rear, making the MKE 600 far more effective at capturing distant sources than the omnidirectional mics found in most cameras.
Bass Roll-Off
The MKE 600 naturally reduces sub-bass frequencies below 40 Hz to prevent unnatural bass buildup. Activate the switchable low-cut filter at 100 Hz to roll off more low-frequency noise from common sources such as air conditioners and traffic.
Battery or Phantom Powered
Thanks to its 3-pin XLR output and compliance with 48 VDC phantom powering, the MKE 600 is compatible with a variety of handheld audio recorders, field recorders, and mixer adapters, as well as built-in preamps on many camcorders and cinema cameras.

When using devices that don't offer phantom power, the MKE 600 may optionally be powered for up to 150 hours by a single AA battery (available separately). Approximately 8 hours of operating time remain once the low-battery indicator lights up red. Use the on/off switch to prevent unnecessary battery drain.

Ideal for Camera, Tripod, or Boompole Mounting
The MKE 600 includes a shoe shockmount for easy placement on your camera or a tripod. To mount the MKE 600 on a boompole or mic stand, use the Rycote InVision INV-HG mkIII shockmount (available separately), which will also impede the transfer of vibrations between your boompole/stand and the mic.
XLR to 3.5mm TRS Adapter Cable for Cameras
Included with a MKE 600 is a short coiled adapter cable—XLR female to 3.5mm TRS male—that lets you connect the mic directly into a mini-jack mic input on a camera.
Windscreen Minimizes Wind Noise
The MKE 600 has a foam windscreen to reduce unwanted wind noise from breezes, fans, heaters, and air conditioners by up to 25 dB. Enhanced attenuation of wind noise is possible with the addition of an optional windshield such as the Rycote 15cm Super-Softie, which also provides high immunity to rain.

For maximum reduction of handling noise and wind noise in indoor or outdoor environments, consider a complete windjammer, windshield, and shockmount suspension system such as the Rycote Super-Blimp NTG or the large Rycote Super-Shield Kit (both available separately).

Auray BP-47A Aluminum Boompole with Internal Coiled Cable and Bottom Exit (7.5')
The Auray BP-47A is a 4-section, aluminum boompole that combines an anti-twist tube design with ergonomic twist locks to offer smooth telescoping and hassle-free, one-handed operation—great for adjusting the length quickly, on the fly when filming documentary, ENG, or reality-style videos. The boompole has a collapsed length of 2.5', an extended length of 7.5', and weighs only 1.6 lb. The sections are made of lightweight aluminum tubes designed for portability and durability.

An internal, coiled cable with a side-exit XLR connector makes it easy to extend or retract the boompole while streamlining your setup with fewer cables to carry. The custom, removable head tip and drop-through design allow for cable reconfiguration without any soldering required. High-quality Rean and Neutrik connectors are used for reliable signal transfer and uncompromised performance, even in challenging environments.

Durable Aluminum Construction

  • The durable anodized aluminum construction can handle the bumps and impacts of demanding travel and location shoots in all kinds of weather.

Solid Grip and Smooth Telescoping

  • The ergonomic twist locks are covered with rubber grips that are easy on your hands and comfortable to operate, making length adjustment smooth and effortless. Improved shims ensure a firm and secure hold until you loosen the locks.

Anti-Twist Alignment Tubing for One-Handed Operation

  • Quick length adjustment when you're recording on the go is crucial for keeping from interrupting the shoot. With an anti-twist design, adjacent tubes won't twist when you're expanding or retracting the boompole. This allows for one-handed twist lock operation and makes setup and length adjustment fast and easy.

Internal, Coiled Cable with Strain Relief

  • The integrated, coiled XLR cable is engineered to minimize unwanted radio frequency (RF) and electromagnetic (EM) interference that can degrade the audio signal. The coiled design allows the cable to smoothly extend and retract with the telescoping tubes.
  • The tip's strain-relief system absorbs tension, secures the cable, and protects the cable from damage at the edges of the tip exit. Additional strain relief at the bottom of the pole protects and preserves the connections between the cable and the TA3 connector.

Bottom-Exit Connector

  • With a right-angle XLR cable plugged into the bottom-exit connector, the operator can rest the pole on its end without damaging the wiring or connector.
Removable Arrowhead Tip for Solderless Cable Replacement

  • BP Series boompoles feature a removable Arrowhead tip designed to reduce weight at the top of the pole.
  • The tip also allows easy drop-through cable insertion for quick and uncomplicated cable replacement.
  • Thanks to the solderless design, you won't need special tools to replace the XLR cable using the cable replacement kit (available separately).
High-Quality XLR Connectors

  • The internal cable is equipped with high-quality XLR and TA3 (mini XLR) connectors manufactured by Rean. The connectors ensure flawless signal transfer and secure locking connections, preventing the cable from disconnecting, even if there's stress or an accidental tug on the cable.
  • The Neutrik bottom-exit connector is housed in its own casing and ensures a secure connection to the boompole that won't jeopardize signal flow by twisting or jiggling.

Standard 3/8"-16 Threaded Mount

  • The boompole is outfitted with a standard 3/8"-16 threaded mount to ensure compatibility with most professional shotgun mics and shockmounts.

K-Tek KSQD1 Squid Universal Mount

The K-Tek KSQD1—or the Squid, as it’s more commonly known—is a convenient, stretchy solution for mounting a transmitter, mobile device, remote, and more to a tripod, handgrip, and yes, even a boompole. The Squid is made of silicone, quite elastic and strong, and stretches to provide a solid grip over the device. The silicone doubles as a barrier to shield the equipment, behaving in some ways as a shock absorber. As the Squid is translucent, you can see your controls and status indications quite easily.

Attaching something like a transmitter to the top end of your boompole with the Squid you can achieve better RF range, as well as stability as you swing the boom to and fro. Also, the silicone material adds little weight to the endeavor, which, as any boompole operator can tell you, is a plus. You can even attach a camera with a gimbal to the top of the boom, achieving drone-like shots. You can also use this device on tripod legs, antenna masts, or indeed, any tube-shaped object.

Zoom H6 Studio Reviews

Improved from the original, but some tradeoffs

By Bill
Rated 4 out of 5

I have the original H6, and decided to upgrade to this one for a few reasons: 1) I wanted 32 bit and 192K recording 2) The new timecode option 3) My old one had the degrading rubber issue, which is annoying (opted for the free cover and replacement battery door, but still...) As for the new H6 Studio, here's the good: Mic Pres sound pretty good, easy to use, could function as a backup for narrative work in a pinch now that I have timecode. It's also a little lighter. Features for price are pretty strong. Here's the bad: It seems to be a much cheaper build. Plastic case, XY capsule now has exposed wires. While being lighter is nice, it's feels much cheaper and less durable. Also, they removed the ability to mix the output. This is a bit baffling, why would they remove that? You can control the gain only. They also removed the mid side mic as an included option. I'm mostly going to use it for capturing wild sounds at high sample rates, so it's fine for that. Also as a backup recorder to my MixPre 10 II on small shoots now that the H6 has timecode.

Zoom H6-Studio Review

Zoom H6-Studio Review I own multiple Zoom Recorders of all types and sizes. I see this recorder being one of the most useful and most used on recording projects going forward unless I need more than six recording channels during a single recording session. The H6-Studio operation is very intuitive and useful for most any recording situation. I successfully used it for a multiple boundary mics on a table for family history conversations session to recording an active thunderstorm using the supplied mics, both with exceptional results. No discernible self noise. Different settings for different situations and audio export and mixing-easy peasy. Needs a windscreen for outdoor recordings. Highly recommend.  Andy
