The HDMI EDID Detective from Gefen keeps HDMI sources and displays in sync and eliminates any EDID issues. This device has been designed specifically to ensure that a connected high-definition source sends compatible audio and video signals without losing the EDID (Extended Display Identification Data). This is done by recording the HDMI display EDID and making it available to the high definition source reliably and on a continuous basis.

Signal Stability and Performance
The HDMI EDID Detective is designed to eliminate EDID-related issues in HDMI signal chains. By capturing and storing Extended Display Identification Data (EDID), this device ensures stable communication between HDMI sources and displays, even if the display is powered off, disconnected, or replaced.
Maintain HDMI Sync
The unit solves sync issues by storing EDID locally and feeding it back to the source, preventing signal dropouts and resolution mismatches.

Supporting resolutions up to 8K60 and 4K120 with full HDMI 2.1 compliance, it guarantees optimal signal integrity across demanding AV installations.

Advanced Format Support
The emulator supports modern video formats like Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and HLG, and enables VRR, ALLM, QMS, QFT, and SBTM passthrough. Six factory-set EDID profiles and six customizable slots allow precise configuration for different setups.

You can manage EDID profiles and firmware through the USB-C port using Gefen's Syner-G software. DIP switches on the unit provide additional control over HDCP modes and EDID behavior.

Audio Compatibility
The unit supports LPCM 7.1, Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and other multichannel audio formats, and DDC reclocking improves HDCP handshake reliability, reducing errors during playback or device switching.

The active HPD feature keeps the source connected, maintaining communication through power cycles and cable changes.
