Finally got tired of inkjet printers with the endless (and pretty frequent) cartridge replacements. I don't print much but do scan pretty regularly, so a laser that performs duplex scanning (from ADF) definitely caught my eye. It also does duplex printing and copying, which is also useful. Print speed is definitely fast enough for my needs and the quality is head and shoulders above my last Brother inkjet. Canon's software is also way better. Per Consumer Reports, operating costs is also lower than comparable Brother lasers, though Brother supposedly has the upper hand in reliability but time will tell. Don't use fax so cannot attest to that function. I've only had this for a short time but definitely liking it so far.
