Black tar STJ100H Overview

Experience the bliss of raw tube power with modern flexibility with the Blackstar St. James 100, a four channel, 100W tube amp head that includes three 12AX7 preamp tubes and the ability to choose between or mix a set of two 6L6 and two EL34 power tubes. Combined with continuously variable power reduction down to 5%, this amp head offers extraordinary tone and versatility.

You can select between six footswitchable voicings. Reverb and channel selection are also footswitchable. Each channel provides 3-band EQ control presence, and individually adjustable gain and volume, ensuring you can always find the ideal tone at any volume level or in any environment. The amp head includes an FX loop with selectable input sensitivity and series/parallel routing modes. The St. James 100 also features CabRig cabinet emulation via XLR and 1/4" outputs, MIDI 5-pin DIN I/O, and both a two-way 1/4" and six-way XLR footswitch input. Finally, a USB-C port provides a digital audio output for applying tube tones to your recordings. The St. James 100 amp head includes an FS-23 6-way footswitch.

Versatile Power Tube Options
The St. James 100 comes equipped with two distinct power tube types: 6L6 and EL34. You can easily toggle between these tube types in 50W mode or combine both flavors for a unique 100W experience, harnessing the qualities of both power vacuum tube types.
Continuously Variable Power Reduction
Variable power reduction down to 5% helps you preserve tube tone, feel, distortion, and compression at nearly any volume level. Get the ideal tone in any space, from bedrooms and home studios to large stages.
Built-In Reactive Load
Blackstar developed their own reactive load box which is compact and lightweight. It accurately replicates speaker drive and breakup.
CabRig IR-Based Speaker Simulator
You'll find an array of outstanding classic cabinet and mic combinations over on the friendly user interface. You can create any sound in your head with ease. The St. James 100 sports both XLR and 1/4" CabRig outputs.
Innovative Cut Selector
Tucked away on the back of the amp, you can shape your tone with the patent-pending three-position Cut switch, adjusting high-end frequencies for anything from aggressive clarity to warm, vintage tones.
MIDI Enabled
The St. James 100 integrates seamlessly into professional rigs, with MIDI switching of all footswitchable features, providing a flexible control solution.
Flexible FX Loop
The FX loop can be switched between +4 dBu and -10 dBV to connect to pro-level or pedal-level devices as required. It can also be switched between standard series routing or parallel routing. In addition, it is footswitchable by reallocating one of the FS-23 footswitch buttons or via MIDI.
Solo Boost
A small rear potentiometer allows the user to set the gain of the footswitchable Solo Boost level from between +2 to +6 dB.
6-Way Footswitch Included
The included FS-23 footswitch gives you the ability to switch between all four channels, all six voices, toggle the Boost function on/off, and switch the Reverb on or off.
Pro Connectivity
Use USB for pure tube tone in your recordings, XLR CabRig for stage brilliance without mics, and the 1/4" output for that driven tube amp bliss through your headphones. A trifecta of sonic freedom.
