Ubiquiti PoE Audio Port Reviews

Smooth

Much needed DAC for years, tolerated a first generation Apple Express as my digital to audio connection to a Sony integrated amplifier. I looked at a few other choices but the Ubiquti got my attention since it’s a later edition, so I thought it have the latest chipset. Out of the box, plugged rca audio, power supply and ethernet. Download the control app from Apple apps. The app is UniFi Play and works seamlessly with Apple Airplay - so well it’s a complement for each other. Nothing quirky. I can play audio from IPhone or Apple TV still with UniFi Play giving nice control as needed or simply control volume with IPhone side buttons if playing from IPhone. Built in EQ if you want but I select OFF, the 24 bit 44khz Lossless audio streaming or downloads from Apple although not the best, is so good an EQ is not needed. Be sure to go in IPhone settings, apps, music and change audio quality settings to 24 bit. For the Mac OS, change audio quality by clicking on the Lossless logo next to the audio timeline bar. I got it all connected to my 33 year old Sony amplifier, Bowers and Wilkins 707 S3, no EQ anything and it sounds smooth yet crisp, nothing offensive.

Great for Whole Home Audio Zones

I was looking to utilize either WiiM or this new Ubiquiti Port and decided to give this a whirl. Given you can power it via PoE proved to be a really convenient add to my rack without needing a bunch of outlets for each zone's streamer. Has been working pretty reliably. Am hoping Ubiquiti will add some more features as time goes on. AirPlay and Spotify have been used a lot for my particular setup. Am looking to slowly add more to fill up my Whole Home Audio setup. Setup was easy and smooth and the app functionality works great. Volume between the different streams is remembered which is nice in addition to the equalizer for each stream too. They need to add support for having multiple ports in multiple zones as well as implementing their API for Home Assistant support. These adds would be great!
