The SPA-50 Cold Shoe Smartphone Adapter with 2x Tilt from Oben is a sturdy smartphone adapter that easily attaches onto a camera's shoe mount and allows a compatible smartphone to be used as a monitor, additional camera, or even a prompter. It features a spring-loaded clamp with silicone padding that securely holds smartphones and devices from 2.3 to 3.4" wide without scratching the finish or the camera's screen. Four articulation points allow the adapter to tilt and swivel for optimal placement on your camera or camera rig.

Its solid and durable aluminum construction delivers camera stability whether the smartphone is in portrait or landscape orientation. The mounting foot has an integrated 1/4-20" socket for easily mounting the adapter onto a tripod or head. An additional cold shoe is built into the adapter and allows the addition of compatible devices like a small LED light, microphone, or wireless receiver.

Camera Mounting
The SPA-50 adapter has a shoe mount that's compatible with your camera's hot or cold shoe. Slide it on, clamp it down with the locking ring, and use your smartphone as a monitor, recorder, or even as a prompter while you're vlogging.
Tripod Mounting
The adapter has a 1/4-20" socket to mount your camera to a tripod or tripod head or a desktop tripod for streaming, video conferences, or chats.
Spring-Loaded Smartphone Clamp
The spring-loaded clamp will accept a smartphone or other compatible devices from 2.3 to 3.4" wide and is padded with silicon strips that improve its grip without scratching the phone's finish or screen. The clamp can also hold devices like wireless receivers and small power banks.
Accessory Cold Shoe Mounts
Add other devices to your setup as you need them. The adapter's two cold shoe mounts allow you to add compatible devices like a small LED light or on-camera microphone, or a shock mount for a shotgun microphone.
Camera Rotation and Aiming
The smartphone clamp rotates a full 360° and has 90° stops for instantly switching camera from portrait to landscape orientation. The clamp's arm features two tilting joints and a panning base that can adjust to virtually any camera angle.

Great flexibility for mounting phones, lights, and accessories

I’ve used a lot of smartphone mounts over the years, and this one stands out because of how flexible and well thought out it is. I’ve used it as a regular phone mount, a phone monitor mount, a quick teleprompter setup, and even as a way to add a second angle during shoots. It feels very solid thanks to the aluminum construction, but it’s still lightweight enough that it doesn’t add a lot of bulk to a camera rig. One thing I really like is how flexible the mounting options are. You can attach it directly to a camera’s cold shoe, but it also has a 1/4" thread on the bottom for mounting to a tripod, stand, or other support gear. The removable adapter revealing a 3/8" thread underneath is a really smart touch because it makes it compatible with even more professional grip equipment without needing extra adapters. The articulation is another big plus. Being able to rotate and tilt the phone in multiple directions makes framing much easier, especially when switching between horizontal and vertical content. The spring-loaded clamp holds the phone securely, and the padding helps protect the device from scratches. I also really appreciate the two cold shoe accessory mounts. Being able to add both a small light and a microphone at the same time makes this perfect for compact run-and-gun setups, livestreams, or quick interview rigs. Overall, this is a very versatile and well thought out accessory that works great for both casual creators and professional video production setups. This smartphone holder is extremely well built! The cold shoes on the top and bottom are a great feature to have, but here are the two things that stood out to me the most... 1. The adaptor snaps into place for horizontal or vertical positions. 2. The grip is strong and does not allow my phone to wiggle. I think this can be mounted to a small articulating arm on a camera rig and it would stay in place. I think that this adaptor is as good (if not better) as other name brand adapters AND this Oben version is very affordable. [I have received this product in exchange for my honest review]
