EXCELLENT LIGHT-WEIGHT GENERAL PURPOSE BINOCULARS THAT ALSO FOCUS EXTREMELY CLOSE

Have purchased several of these over the years, both for my wife and I, and to give as gifts. These are remarkably good general purpose binoculars that are small, lightweight and easy to use. Plus they also have the ability to focus extremely close and act as long-distance magnifiers. If you want to look at a bug, spider or butterfly without getting too close, these are the best way to do that. We usually buy the low-power 6.5X version because they are a little brighter and make it easier to find things that are close-up. We also use expensive alpha-class binoculars, but these are good enough that we never feel like they are inadequate compared to the A+ binos --- if these were all we had we'd be satisfied with them. And they close-focus in a way none of the other binoculars do. Just gave another pair as a gift to friends, and their first comment was that they were sharper and easier to use than the 10x50's they already owned. Perhaps the only (minor) limitation is that the objective lenses have to be close together so that your eyes can merge the left and right images when looking at objects that are very close, so they don't provide much stereoscopic view for object that are further away. But this is a small loss and most roof prism binoculars also tradeoff putting the objective lenses closer together to make the binoculars more compact (unlike porro prism binos where the objectives are further apart and thus potentially show more stereo depth at medium distance at the expense of larger size). Can't recommend these highly enough, either as a second pair of specialty binoculars for very close-up viewing, or even as a good quality, low-cost primary pair of binoculars. They're fun with kids to let them see things --- even scary things like spiders --- up close.

Loved gift
