amaran Ray 660C Overview

Brightest Output for Any Scenario
The full-color Ray 660c RGB LED Monolight is amaran's highest output COB light with 660W, OmniColor technology, and modern features. Whether you're lighting up subjects or filling expansive studios, the Ray 660c is a well suited streamlined, monolight-style LED. Find intuitive onboard and app management of settings via FlowTurn knob and NFC configuration, or opt for DMX control via USB-C by adding an optional adapter. Choose from an extended color temperature range of 1800-20,000K in CCT+ with high color accuracy, and access 360° full color control with HSI and RGB modes. The Ray 660c is IP54 dust and watersplash resistant, so it is built to withstand demanding environments. When it comes to flexibility, amaran has left no stone unturned with the inclusion of a convenient yoke and Bowens mount compatibility. The brand includes a reflector, a single power cable, and a case to give you a storage solution and faster setup between shoots.
Powerful Studio-Quality Output
The bare light delivers up to 38,500 lux at 3.3' and 4300K, but pair it with the included reflector to increase the output to an impressive 91,600 lux at the same distance. A dedicated Fresnel is available separately to expand your creative options with a variable spot-to-flood beam. Experience 45,904 lumens, green-magenta shift, and find true-to-life colors with high CRI 95, TLCI 95, SSI 80/87, TM-30 94/100 ratings. These ratings reflect cleaner whites, true skin tones, and highly accurate colors that stay consistent on camera and to the eye.
360º Full Color
amaran's OmniColor engine offers an enhanced color spectrum with expanded red and blue ranges for a fuller, more balanced spectrum of light. The Ray 660c has a 2300-10,000K adjustable color temperature that can be extended to a wider 1800-20,000K range in CCT+ mode. Another benefit is 0-100% stepless brightness control. The light supports 360° of color control for creating different looks, while the FX mode lets you select from 12 different effects: fireworks, faulty bulb, lightning, TV, pulsing, strobe, explosion, fire, paparazzi, welding, cop car, and party.
Adaptive Control
Other highlights are a Quick Operation mode for instant adjustments of settings, custom shortcuts for long press and double click options, as well as High-Speed Photography and Studio modes. Control is simplified with an intuitive menu and a TFT screen for quick onboard operation. A FlowTurn knob gives you tactile feedback when adjusting the lighting settings, but the Ray 660c also provides one-tap pairing to the amaran app thanks to its built-in NFC configuration. Bluetooth app control has a generous 262.5' wireless operating range.
Optional DMX via USB-C
The Ray 660c can be integrated into optional industry-standard consoles and software with the addition of the separately available amaran USB-C to 5-pin DMX in/out adapter. When programing precise cues, syncing multi-light looks, or triggering repeatable scenes, the optional adapter for DMX control via USB-C lets you scale into more advanced studio workflows.
AC Power
amaran claims the Ray 660c as the first full color COB LED in its power class with an integrated power supply. Its convenient all-in-one body integrates power directly into the Ray 660c light head. This eliminates bulky, external power bricks, which helps you keep an efficient, clutter-free studio space. Power the light by simply using a single 16.4' long AC power cable.
IP54-Rated Design & Low Fan Noise
With an IP54 rating ensuring dust and splash resistance and active fan cooling quiet enough for video work at 28 dBA (maximum output), with the choice of silent or smart fan modes, the Ray 360c is an ideal light for creators requiring studio-quality output whether lighting up subjects or filling small studios.
Wide Compatibility
The fixture's metal, full-size Bowens mount is fully compatible with the included reflector, an optional dedicated Fresnel, and other Bowens modifiers. In addition, the unit's yoke design allows for precise rotation of lamp head and comes with dual junior/baby pin receiver for quick mounting to optional stands. Finally, a safety chain bracket is built-in for added security.

amaran Ray 660C Reviews

My favorite light

This is my favorite light I have ever used. It ticks all of my boxes: 1) Bright enough for almost any situation. 2) It can change into any color I need. 3) You can adapt the light in a million ways with bowens mounts. 4) It's remarkably light and small considering its power output compared to other lights. 5) It's so fast and easy to set up, tear down, adjust settings and move. 6) The knobs and buttons are so oddly satisfying. The Amaran Ray 660C is an absolute joy to use on set and it is incredibly versatile. This light makes me regret all of my other lights. Over time I want to replace all of my lights with these! (I wish I had better photos to show more use cases)

My Review Of The 660C

Hey people I bought the 660c, Ngl it took a bit to arrive just because it was back ordered but once it arrived I loved it. It's bright obviously, Great on the CCT, Love the RGB as well although I don't need it but I rather have it, it has your standard fx lighting modes as well. Not a fan of the styrofoam bubble case it comes in but that has nothing to do with the light. Also it doesn't need a ballast so all the techy stuff that makes it work is packed into the light itself, along with a pretty durable metal yoke. Easy, Simple, Setup. Now go shine like the star you are with the 660c... or the 360c I have that one too. Both great lights.

The AC input for the amaran Ray 660c RGB LED Monolight is unspecified as of now on the specifications we have been given for the amaran Ray 660c RGB LED Monolight, the amaran 200x, 150C, 300C have been 3 pin XLR, so I would hope that they continue this trend but at this time we do not now, as soon as we get stock for this item we can update you.

Will this work with the Amaran Spotlight (BH # AMSLSE36LK)?
Asked by: Adam
No, the amaran Ray 660c RGB LED Monolight features the Bowens S front accessory mount, but since it is a 660W light, it will need to use a projector rated for that higher wattage. The amaran Spotlight SE 36° Lens Kit is only rated for fixtures up to 330W.
