Rather a disappointment for a Thule bag

I bought this from a Thule dealer. The design is alright but not really adequate for good laptop protection, especially at the retail price. The laptop compartment has thick foam along one side of the zipper that encloses the compartment, so that when zipped closed the foam is supposed to provide protection if the bag is dropped top-side down. But the foam is only on one side of the zipper, meaning that it's about an even chance for the laptop to slam into the ground with only some nylon fabric to protect it. Instead of foam around the zipper Thule should've used a strap to hold the laptop in the pocket, which not only provides the best kind of drop protection for the drop I just described but would also keep the laptop from falling out if the zipper was left open. What's especially disappointing is the shoulder strap. It's super cheap, coarse low-thread nylon that is thin, and has a stitched instead of adjustable shoulder pad. The fastener hardware is plastic carabiners with thin metal wire spring clasps. This looks like something from a corporate give-away bag. I do like that the bag is relatively thin for one capable of carrying a larger laptop, but a 17" I think would unlikely to fit as the bag is not very deep; I have a Macbook Pro 16 and Lenovo Legion Pro 16 and both just fit. I also like the pocket layout, but I think the glasses pocket on the outside is rather a gimmick and I would've preferred that Thule had left that off if it would've meant better quality for the rest of the bag. There's every possibility this unexpectedly low quality is the effect of ridiculous tariffs. Nonetheless, this bag is too much of a compromise in function to keep.

Best Travel Bag I've Ever Owned!

This 26L is perfect for production travel. I carry my MacBook Air 14, iPad Pro, power cables, Patagonia jacket, FX3 w cage and 24-70mm lens, Headphones, etc etc.. the list goes on. It's small and lightweight- and has great airport functionality only con: the hardshell protective pouch on the front, while awesome, is detached for some reason. I'm considering sewing it in place.
