Three-step posing ladder is both sturdy and safe. I love the wide rungs for ease of standing or sitting. The handrail folds up for safety and stability, but could easily be left down if it is in the way. I am delighted with this purchase.
Solid Ladder!
The Impact Photographic 3-Step Posing Ladder is a very helpful tool whenever you need that extra height, whether in the studio or on location. It’s especially useful for adjusting lighting setups, and for wedding photography, videography, graduations, or any event where you need a slightly higher shooting angle. I had the chance to take it on location on the very next day of receiving this product for a graduation party and test it in a real working environment. I have included photos of it in use (visible only on the full desktop version of the B&H website, not the app). The construction is extremely solid thanks to the thick aluminum build. In fact, it’s so sturdy that it’s a little on the heavy side designed for STABILITY, but still, carrying it around is still easy because it features a very comfortable side grab handle. Even better, it includes a set of 1.5" wheels, allowing you to slightly tilt it, even while fully open, and smoothly roll it around a studio or event venue. Just keep in mind that the wheels are designed for indoor flooring and carpet, not pavement or concrete. I'm not saying it won't roll on concrete, it's just a bad idea and to avoid unnecessary wear and tear...Common sense... Setting up and using: At first I thought, “It’s just a ladder" Funny enough, as I am a very techie guy, I did spend a few moments figuring out how to properly open and close it. Once I understood the mechanism, though, it became very simple and smooth because I'm used to construction ladders and they open different. To open this ladder, it literally takes 3 seconds. You'll want to place both hands on the top step, then tilt with on hand upwards while doing the opposite with the other hand tilting downwards. Then, LATER, that's when you open the safety handrail. To collapse, close the handrail first, then, fold the steps. The ladder supports up to 330 lbs and also includes a safety handrail, which really helps with balance when shooting from the top step or assisting older users climbing the ladder. That said, the handrail is for balance only ! it’s not designed to support your full body weight. I can already pre-imagine some people that will try leaning on the rail for that extra reach... Do NOT try that. Always stand ONLY on the steps. Overall, I’m very happy with this ladder and I can already tell it’s built to last for many years.
