Does not play well with Leica D-Lux8

I purchased this VND to use on my Leica D-Lux8 while traveling Italy. I was looking for one solution to be able to capture pictures in the bright daylight hours. The filter allows me to get the shot I want. However, the fitment is not good. The D-Lux8 seizes with this filter attached. I have to unscrew the filter to close the camera so that it does not seat too firmly on the body. I then snug it up to ensure it does not come unscrewed. Similarly, I have to unscrew the filter prior to turning on the camera so that it can extend freely. The distance from the threads to the flat part of the VND where it sits against the body of the camera has to be increased if it is to be used with this model. I have two options: have a friend machine this filter to provide more clearance, or purchase a different VND. I had high hopes.
