Advanced Four-Channel Lens Control System
The Nucleus-M II Handwheel Kit from Tilta provides advanced lens control for cine-style shooters. Compatible with first-gen Nucleus-M components, this enhanced version features more reliable transmission, greater precision, a 2.4" display, updated algorithms, and L-series battery power.
Handwheel Kit
This Nucleus-M II handwheel kit comprises a FIZ handwheel controller, a lanyard, an ARRI rosette adapter, one 0.8 MOD gear, two focus gear rings, an electronic focus marking disk, five standard focus marking disks, a motor, 15 and 19mm rod mounts, 7-pin and D-Tap cables, and a soft-shell case that protects the system during transport and storage.
Core Upgrades
Familiar Ecosystem
This updated system features seamless integration with the first-generation Nucleus-M, eliminating any learning curve for existing Nucleus-M users. It retains the damping adjustment and menu shortcut layout of the original version.
Handwheel Unit
  • The handwheel unit now features adjustable tension, built-in lens mapping, and clear focus, iris, and zoom information displayed in up to four different locations.
  • Four control options now include the wheel and a rocker, slider, and dial.
  • Control settings like white balance, ISO, and shutter speed for select cameras.
Electronic Marking Disk
  • The Nucleus-M II features a new electronic marking disk that lets you execute precise focus pulls even in lower light levels
  • This detachable ring can be removed to return to your physical focus marks
Larger 2.4" Touchscreen Display
Use the new 2.4" color touchscreen to quickly access controls like focus, aperture, ISO, and more.
Redesigned Lens Motors
The redesigned lens motors now offer a streamlined user interface, high torque, color-coded LED indicators, and a compact form that is ideal for gimbal, handheld, and drone use.
Updated Algorithms
  • The Nucleus-M II's new PID 2.0 (Proportional Integral Derivative) algorithm now offers a fast 0.02-second response time with smooth, stutter- and delay-free adjustments
  • When used with the handwheel, you can now control up to four channels
  • It can be paired effortlessly with stabilizers like the DJI RS 2, reducing your setup time
  • The modular design lets you quickly replace gears
  • This kit includes both 15 and 19mm single-rod mounts
Professional Design
Four-Channel Control
  • The Nucleus-M II offers not only focus, iris, and zoom, but also a fourth channel used for geared filters like Tilta's variable ND for the Mirage Pro Matte Box
  • The ND control lets you make real-time exposure adjustments from a distance, a handy feature for capturing gimbal, stabilizer, handheld, or complex dolly shots
Optional Ergonomic Handgrips
  • Separately available ergonomic handgrips can be added for maximum comfort to easily switch between the primary and secondary controls
  • They allow you to set up the Nucleus-M II as a top handle, in handheld mode, or in a stabilizer configuration
Sony L-Series Type Compatibility
The handwheel unit is powered using widely available Sony L-Series type batteries that you may already have in your kit, providing long runtimes.
Settings Presets
The Nucleus-M II handwheel controller can store up to 128 data presets, letting you quickly recall settings with a touch.
Power Loss Protection
Power loss protection maintains your MARK point and RANG memory setting, even after an outage.
Upgraded Control
Multipoint Collaboration
The Nucleus-M II supports multi-control adjustments for both camera and lens motor settings, letting solo operators or teams tweak each FIZ parameter.
Expanded Compatibility
Works with a Wide Range of Ecosystems
  • This system works with both Tilta and DJI ecosystems for seamless hand unit compatibility
  • Tilta compatibility: First-gen Nucleus M lens control motors, Nucleus Nano lens control motors
  • Built-in DJI RS protocol lets you directly control DJI lens motors via a DJI RS stabilizer
Configuration Options
Right- or Left-Hand Use, Robust Channels
  • The detachable handwheel and thumb module let you easily set up the Nucleus-M II for left-hand use
  • Use a separately available baby pin and monitor brackets to mount your system on a C-stand, camera cart, or handheld rig
  • More robust channels provide a stronger, more stable signal for precise focusing
Additional Features

Tilta Nucleus-M II Reviews

Do not buy stay away

I bought this kit and it arrived 06-04-2026. By 06-15-2026 One of the motors kept shutting down my camera and at some point mid take it started smoking and almost caught fire on a $80,000 camera rig. I reached out to Tilta to get some support but no response. Tilta customer service is subpar I would not recommend them.

Nucleus MII Revised Review

Updates: 1) Firmware problems and no new firmware offered by Tilta Tilta reached out and offered me Beta firmware and released it to the public days later. Vast improvement and I was able to use this system on a professional project without any problems. 2) Hardware problems You need a specific cable for firmware updates that is not provided in the kit. 3) Ergonomic problems such as the motors not fitting certain lenses when the first generation motors fit the same lens just fine. They have a larger gear that fixes this problem and it now fits the Atlas Mercury and Blazar Remus lenses and any lenses with close iris and focus gears. 4). Lens mapping does not work. Firmware fixed this 5) I haven't been able to use this kit because it can't be trusted on set. I still use my first generation Nucleus M. I am now using this system on professional projects without any worry. 6). Tilta talks about how the new motor is smaller. It is not as tall, but just as thick and the gear has a horrible placement. Obviously, this is not going to change, but the larger Tilta gear takes care of the problem. However, with the larger gear attached, the motor no longer fits in the case. 7). It is almost like Tilta did not give this kit to any professionals before releasing it. This kit is now clearly a great value and is exactly where it should have been at launch. Pricing is now perfect. It’s a no brainer to pick up.

Does this work with Sony A7RV and e-Mount lenses like Sony 400-800mm lens? How long is the rail for motor mount and diameter?
Asked by: Rob
The Tilta Nucleus-M II Handwheel Kit can work with the Sony a7R V Mirrorless Camera and E-mount lenses but it does not come with a rod. It would have to be purchased separately, both 15 and 19mm rods are supported.

What is focus wheel throw of the hand grip?

What is focus wheel throw of the hand grip?
Asked by: Mikolaj
Tilta does not publish a fixed mechanical focus throw specification for the Tilta Nucleus-M II Ultimate Kit's handwheel controller. The handwheel is electronic and lens-map based, so the effective focus throw can be adjusted through calibration and lens mapping rather than being limited to a fixed 270° or 360° mechanical rotation.
