FiiO BR15 R2R Overview

Get the most out of your audio setup with the BR15 R2R Digital-to-Analog Converter with Bluetooth Audio Receiver from FiiO, a desktop DAC with fully differential 24-bit R2R resistor arrays and CD-quality wireless Bluetooth streaming. Sporting up to 384 kHz upsampling via OS mode, you can experience a refined sound with any audio content.

The FiiO DR15 R2R supports 24-bit / 384 kHz decoding for PCM files and up to DSD256 for compatible DSD files. The DAC features plenty of high-quality chips for maximizing sonic performance, including the proprietary true 24-bit R2R chip, a XMOS XU316 USB controller, and a Qualcomm QCC5181 Bluetooth chip. The unit sports a crystal-clear high-contrast LCD display for easy operation, and RGB logo lighting for a stylish look. Connections include optical TOSLINK in and outs, coaxial RCA digital input/output, two balanced XL outputs, two pairs of RCA line outputs, and a front and rear USB-C connection for maximum digital audio quality.

Wireless High-Quality Streaming
Thanks to the Qualcomm QCC5181 chip, you can enjoy CD-quality wirelessly with up to 2.1 Mb/s transfer speeds. And for other supported codecs like aptX Lossless, you can stream compatible devices at up 96 kHz at 24-bit resolution for a truly immersive sound experience.
Fully Differential True 24-Bit R2R Resistor Arrays
At the center of the DAC is a proprietary quad-channel, fully differential 24-bit R2R DAC chip that is composed of 48 high-precision thin-film resisters per channel, making for a total of 192 resistors with 0.1% accuracy and low temperature drifts at 30 ppm. This high standard of quality provides distinct and rich textures sounds that transcend your listening experience.
NOS and OS Modes
Two sampling modes come standard with the BR15. Starting with NOS (no-oversampling mode), this maintains the original sampling rate for preserving authentic sound resolution. The OS (oversampling mode) upsamples to reach up to a sampling rate of 384 kHz for superior audio fidelity.
Abundant Outputs
The BR15 comes with plenty of output options for various listening applications. Two RCA and one balanced XLR output pairs, along with TOSLINK optical and coaxial digital outputs, provide simple but powerful connections to your favorite audio systems.
Digital Inputs
Two USB-C ports, one in the rear and front of the unit, can connect to your favorite digital players for quick connections. A TOSLINK optical and coaxial input also are available on the rear panel.
Global 10-Band PEQ and Auto EQ
A global 10-band parametric equalizer (PEQ) lets you create custom tuning curves for personal listening preferences. An Auto EQ function allows you to upload any target curve for fast and accurate tunings.
Custom LCD Display
The front-panel 1.47" LCD display offers various colors and themes to present song titles, artist, and lyrics. Quickly access device status information like sample rates, volume, and EQ.
Dual Power-Supply Design
Whether you use a standard AC power chord or a 5V DC plug, flexibility is key for running the BR15.
Dual Hi-Res Audio Certifications
Both Hi-Res Audio and Hi-Res Audio Wireless certifications ensure you will listen back according to the finest audio standards.

FiiO BR15 R2R Reviews

Needs Fixing

Must update firmware immediately to get English Language working reliably USB Audio Class 1 is Useless for USB connection. Audio is Garbled on a modern computer and Retro Sandy Bridge Laptop with Windows XP hard reboots whenever you play any music. Very disappointing as my Fiio BTR3K works perfectly as a USB Audio Class 1 device over a USB Connection. For USB Audio Class 1, you must either use something like a Cubilux USB to Optical SPDIF adapter and connect the Fiio with an optical cable, but Cubilux is not reliable and mine broke almost immediately The Fiio BR15 works best on my Retro System using a Micca Origen G2 connected via USB and sending the optical output to the Fiio BR15 I was hoping the new Fiio firmware would fix the USB Audio Class 1 problems over a USB connection but it did not Other than that, the sound is OK Sound flows freely and unrestrained like water down a mild river Other DAC Types sound more restrained like water squirting out of a hose Sorry but that's the only way I know how to describe it If you have a better description, let me know

Fantastic DAC, especially for the money!

I was interested in trying a R2R Ladder DAC, and heard a lot of great things about the FiiO Warmer and K13, but I didn't need a headphone amp (K13) or a tube output stage (Warmer, I have a tube preamp in my system). This little DAC doesn't disappoint! It offers greater immediacy than my old DAC, with a snappier sharper edge to leading transients, the soundstage is wide, and it has great front to back layering and depth. I'm very pleased with my purchase. I'm going to bring it to my buddies so we can compart it to his Denafrips Pontus (not sure which version, but I'll update after we do our listening session)
