Unlock the full potential of your drum kits with the Austrian Audio DMK1, an 8-mic bundle that combines three different large-diaphragm condensers (one OC-B6 and two OC18s), a CC8 hi-hat condenser mic, three OC7 tom condenser mics, and the OD5 dynamic snare mic, with four drum clips, three windscreens, seven mic clamps, and a waterproof touring case.
Experience the pure, uncolored kick tone of the world's first large-diaphragm condenser mic designed specifically for kick drums with the Austrian Audio OC-B6. Sporting a 1" true condenser capsule, which has been specially tuned for handling extremely high SPLs up to 170 dB, the OC-B6 delivers consistent results from any mic position, whether inside or outside the shell.
A fixed 25 Hz subsonic filter helps to eliminate unwanted rumble, allowing you to get a pure bass drum tone that does not need any pre-EQ processing. The 220° swivel head allows for perfect, effortless positioning. The mic is compact and robust and features an integrated mic thread—no mic clip required. Each OC-B6 is handcrafted in Vienna, Austria.
- 1" large-diaphragm true condenser capsule, the first in the world dedicated to kick drum recording
- Edge contacted
- Specially tuned for extreme SPLs via an increased distance between diaphragm and backplate
- Patented ceramic isolator
- Handmade in Vienna
This flexibility allows engineers to adapt quickly to different styles, stages, and recording situations without switching microphones. With the OC-B6, you have one mic that covers every approach to kick-drum miking, making it a reliable and versatile solution for both live and studio environments.
Designed by a team of former AKG personnel, the Austrian Audio OC18 Studio Set is a large-diaphragm studio condenser microphone offering detailed audio capture for vocalists, voiceover artists, musicians, and producers in personal and commercial recording facilities. The handmade 1" ceramic capsule features a gold-plated polymer membrane and a cardioid polar pattern, which yields reliable on-axis directivity with enhanced off-axis rejection. Front-panel switches are provided for easy access to the pad and roll-off settings.
Set the pad to -10 or -20 dB to avoid distortion when miking loud sources such as drums or guitar cabinets. Activate the high-pass filter at 40, 80, or 160 Hz for attenuation of low-frequency problems including rumble and proximity effect. The OC18's housing is constructed of zinc-aluminum alloy for strength and durability. The OC18 Studio Set includes a vibration-reducing shockmount, a traditional mic clip, a windscreen for mitigating noise from breaths and blasts of air, and a protective carry case. Being 48 VDC phantom powered, the OC18 does not require batteries or an external power supply.
- Single-diaphragm CKR6 handcrafted ceramic capsule
- Debuts Austrian Audio's Open Acoustics Technology
- Cardioid polar pattern
- Balanced 3-pin XLR output connector
- 48V phantom powered
- Includes shockmount, mic clip, windscreen, and protective carry case
- Engineered and manufactured in Austria
Designed by a team of former AKG personnel, the Austrian Audio CC8 small-diaphragm condenser microphone offers smooth and detailed audio capture that's ideal for recording acoustic instruments, such as piano, acoustic guitar, violins, and percussion, in personal studios and commercial recording facilities. The CK1-inspired capsule features a durable, gold-coated diaphragm and a precise cardioid polar pattern, which yields reliable on-axis directivity and reduced pickup of background noise at the rear and sides of the mic.
Switches are provided on the back of the CC8 for easy access to the pad and roll-off settings. Set the pad to -10 or -20 dB to avoid distortion when miking loud sources such as drums or guitar cabinets. Activate the high-pass filter at 60 or 120 Hz for attenuation of low-frequency problems, including rumble and proximity effect. Every CC8 is produced to a tolerance of ±0.5 dB at 1 kHz to enable tonal consistency and convenient matching with any other CC8.
The capsule’s 3 micron-thick, gold-coated, polyethylene naphthalate (PEN) diaphragm is much more robust than conventional mylar alternatives. The fabric filter ensures constant broadband cancellation, attenuating sound coming from the sides and rear, resulting in outstanding cardioid characteristics.
The CC8 sounds natural and open without becoming harsh or spiky, even at extreme volumes. The mids and highs are silky smooth, never exaggerated.
- The CC8 excels in capturing the fast transient and spatial information required for an accurate recording
- Small-diaphragm microphones are particularly popular for the detailed recording of various acoustic instruments found in classical ensembles and jazz formations, such as stringed instruments, woodwinds, and brass as well as orchestral percussion
- in addition, instruments found in all genres like acoustic guitar, piano, snares, hi-hat, and entire drum sets (when used as overheads)
- With quieter sources (for example, a soft stringed instrument or a voice) the CC8's low self noise comes into its own, and the nuances of the performance are captured with outstanding detail and clarity
The Austrian Audio OC7 is a cardioid, true condenser small-diaphragm microphone that utilizes the company's proprietary Open Acoustics technology to capture an open and transparent instrument sound in the studio or live on stage. Great for musicians and sound techs, it features a swivel-joint mechanism that simplifies the process of making fine adjustments to microphone angles by a few degrees without losing their position completely. With a wide 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response and capable of handling up to 154 dB of SPL, the OC7 is ideally suited for use on instruments that have particularly lively transients, including all kinds of percussion like snare drums and toms, but also piano and acoustic guitar. The open, silky sound also lends itself for use on various string instruments. The mic is handmade in Vienna and subjected to the strictest quality assurance processes.
The mic features a 2nd order high-pass filter with switchable frequencies at of 40 and 80 Hz.
With an outstanding 154 dB SPL (>160 dB SPL with pad), the OC7 is extremely resistant to overload. A -10 dB pad, which lowers sensitivity by reducing the capsule voltage, enables you to use the mic in front of the loudest sound sources.
The Austrian Audio OD5 is a cardioid, active-dynamic microphone that utilizes the company's proprietary Open Acoustics technology to capture an open and transparent instrument sound in the studio or live on stage. Great for musicians and sound techs, it features a swivel-joint mechanism that simplifies the process of making fine adjustments to microphone angles by a few degrees without losing their position completely. With a 20 Hz to 18 kHz frequency response and capable of handling up to 151 dB of SPL, the OD5 is ideally suited for use on various percussion and drums, guitar and bass cabinets, and in front of wind instruments. The mic is handmade in Vienna and subjected to the strictest quality assurance processes.
The active-dynamic capsule is perfectly protected by the microphone basket, allowing it to be safely positioned, even in places where the microphone might be subjected to knocks.
The OD5 is equipped with a CAB (Cut-and-Boost) filter applied at 80 Hz, which is particularly well suited for use with guitar amplifiers—the filter removes the unusable low-frequency sound and at the same time increases pressure in the bass range. The mic also features a common 2nd-order high-pass filter at 120 Hz.
The mic has a high sensitivity usually found in condenser microphones. With an outstanding 151 dB SPL (>160 dB SPL with pad), the OD5 is extremely resistant to overload. A -10 dB pad, which lowers sensitivity by reducing the capsule voltage, enables you to use the mic in front of the loudest sound sources.
The Austrian Audio DPH12 Drum Holder offers a simple and effective way to clamp an OC7, OD5, or CC8 microphone on the rim of a drum or percussion instrument. It features an adjustable clamp and a short and a long extension rod for adjusting the distance between the mic and the drum head. The rods are terminated with 3/8"-16 threads to attach a mic clip or shockmount.
