    Sennheiser MZS-CAM reviews

MZS-CAM Camera Mounted Shotgun Microphone Shock Mount is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 26.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works, but.... This does work and it is well made. I have an MXL shotgun mic mounted on a 5D. It is bigger than the intended Sennheiser mic, but still fits fine. It's all metal construction, but with a plastic hot shoe mount. This is good because it won't interfere with the electronics on the hot shoe like a metal hot shoe will. The problem is that you can't look through the view finder with this mounted on the hot shoe. It is useless to me because I shoot mostly still with some video mixed in. The work around I have found is to turn the unit to the side while shooting still w/ the viewfinder and turning it straight when you get ready to shoot video. Not the best, but it works.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from BREAKS EASY, but it simple enough I'm a run and gun shooter, let me start there. The cold shoe is all plastic. One good hit and it broke. Boom, end of it's use. Luckily I had rails so I broke the whole bottom piece off and duct taped the mount on. It stayed much tighter than it did on the shoe mount. The show mount was always coming loose. Constantly. My sennheiser shotgun was flopping around all over the place. It was great to get such a cheap mount, It worked about as well as I expected for the price. If you are always shooting locked down on a tripod or doing really tame events or something, go for it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what I needed, really sweet! I use this shockmount to put various sized of shotgun mic's on top of DSLR, WITH a wireless adapter on the end directly on the mic. This is the only hotshoe system I've seen that can handle this setup because it's relatively heavy, it's even broken several other setups. I'd love a metal-designed or metal-spine mount.. just in case, this one is plastic.. but I think the idea is less noise gets transferred through the mount. In any case, this Senheisser mount is rock solid, as you'd expect with the name brand. Fantastic, highly recommended!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Piece of junk, not for professionals. I have had two of these on a doc. camera rig that is not at all abused and I have broken TWO of these mounts within 4 months! The mount is great, being metal, except that the hotshoe is all plastic, and cheap plastic on top of that. WHY would someone enginner this, this way? I feel ripped off. They are also huge and cumbersome. I expect better from the Germans.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great purchase, metal, solid but... Only negative is that the distance between the separate mounts is too far apart for shorter shotgun mics. Other than that, this is a great product compared to the higher-priced, plastic ones that come in some kits.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good build Quality I was impressed with the quality of the build on this mount, which I use to mount my Sennheiser shotgun mic for event coverage. The elastic bands which hold the mic in place are also very durable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid, great build, extremely reliable!! Strong winds do not affect this mount!, metal construction is superb!, the ME 66/K6 fits like a glove..,Great Acquisition to my audio gear!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lasted 8 years I'm replacing mine after 8 solid years of use - international travel in a soft case. The plastic mount finally snapped -- my own fault likely from stuffing HVX200 in a backpack while mount was on camera. Mount never caused me any problems and minimized movement interference. I use an ME66. Never had to replace a suspension band in 8 years! Mostly metal construction (except for shoe mount and hand tighten screw which are both plastic).
