I have had two of these on a doc. camera rig that is not at all abused and I have broken TWO of these mounts within 4 months! The mount is great, being metal, except that the hotshoe is all plastic, and cheap plastic on top of that. WHY would someone enginner this, this way? I feel ripped off. They are also huge and cumbersome. I expect better from the Germans.

Great purchase, metal, solid but...

Only negative is that the distance between the separate mounts is too far apart for shorter shotgun mics. Other than that, this is a great product compared to the higher-priced, plastic ones that come in some kits.

Where do I get replacement rubber bands? Mine are age splitting after just a couple years. I've tried a few rubber bands I have laying around the house, but none hold the mic without sagging.

I would suggest contacting Sennheiser directly at (860) 434-9190 for these replacement parts.

question

how well does this shock mount eliminate sound from movement? I do a lot of action which involves running etc i own an me66 and want to get the best shock mount for a decent price $100 and under.

This is a very basic, entry level shock mount. This is a far better choice:The InVision Video Hot Shoe Microphone Suspension from Rycote slides into the hot shoe mount of most commercial camcorders to hold microphones with diameters from 19-25mm, while protecting against camera motor noise and vibrations. It is designed to enable camcorder users and videographers to capture the best possible sound for their productions using external camera-mounted microphones.Rycote - InVision Video Hot Shoe Microphone Suspension - Lyre ShockmountThe InVision Video uses the patented Lyre Suspension webs with a molded grip design to prevent your mic from slipping or twisting. For ease in finding the right mounting position, the InVision Video rotates freely 360 on a slotted 4 (100mm) mounting bar. The cradle can slide freely on this slotted bar to keep your mic out of the shot.------------------------------19 to 25mm Mounting Cradle The cradle included with this system accommodates microphone diameters measuring between 19 to 25mm. The interior is treated with a soft-grip surface for a perfect, non-slip fitting

What's the length between the rings? This is listed for a shotgun mic, but are the rings so far that pencil condensers fall out?
Asked by: Thomas
The length of the Sennheiser MZS-CAM Camera-Mounted Shotgun Microphone Shock Mount is 5.1" (130mm) and the height of each suspension mount on the sides is 3.0" (77mm).
