Manfrotto 057 Carbon Fiber Tripod

The Manfrotto 057 3-Section Carbon Fiber Tripod w/ Rapid Center Column is a heavy-duty tripod that's intended for use with video cameras and large still cameras. With a 44.1 lb load capacity, the lightweight carbon fiber leg tubes of the 057 tripod provide rigid support even under a considerable amount of weight.

The tripod's rapid center column has a non-rotating, three-faceted design for increased system stability. To enable extremely low-angle shooting, you can unscrew the center-post collar, remove the center column, and attach the collar directly to the included low-angle adapter (through the chassis). With this method the 057 tripod can achieve a minimum height of 8.7".

The round carbon fiber legs feature user-adjustable flip locks to free and secure the leg stages. An included key for tightening the flip locks attaches to a leg for ever-ready access. With both the legs and the center column fully extended, the tripod reaches a maximum height of 61.8".

Manfrotto XPRO Magnesium Ball Head with 200PL-14 Quick Release Plate

This XPRO Magnesium Ball Head from Manfrotto features an integrated RC2 quick release cam lock and a 200PL-14 Quick Release Plate. RC2 compatible quick release plates such as the 200PL-14 can be removed from the head by pulling the cam lock's spring-loaded lever, which also allows the plate to be instantly reattached. The cam lock also features a safety catch to prevent the 200PL-14, or another compatible quick release plate from accidentally disconnecting.

The XPRO Magnesium Ball Head with 200PL-14 Quick Release Plate has a load capacity of 33.1 lb and can be attached to tripods or other support systems that feature a 3/8"-16 mount. By loosening this XPRO Magnesium Ball Head's primary locking knob, its ball-and-socket joint can be quickly swiveled, angled, fully tilted, or returned to its upright position. Toward the ball head's base is a secondary locking knob that controls the ability to rotate the head 360°. An additional knob opposite the secondary locking knob can be rotated to apply tension control to the ball-and-socket joint's movements.

Cameras or accessories that are compatible with a 1/4"-20 mount can be connected to the 200PL-14 quick release plate which measures 1.7 x 2.1 x 0.4" and has a rubberized, non-slip surface.

Manfrotto 057 Reviews

Well made

Haven't had a chance to use it yet in the field but it looks well made and should do exactly what I'm looking for. I already have the 057 ballhead and it fit perfectly.

Yes I would recommend buying this product

I shoot a lot of wildlife and recently upgraded to a 600 MM lens. My recent Manfratto tripod was good up to 20 # and was concerned about handling the weight of 18# including camera base. I reviewed the ratings and everyone was right about the weight and sturdiness of this tripod. I will feel a very comfortable using this tripod and do not have any problems with the weight. I have lost a lens to another tripod manufacturer that cost five times the tripod. I do not plan on making that mistake again.

question

Does the low angle adapter come with the tripod as standard, or does it need to be purchased separately? I am buying this tripod solely because it will reach my eye height WITHOUT the center column raised. I don't want a centre column at all, in other words.
Asked by: Robert James
Manffotto low angle adapters are usually sold separately. It is not included in the box with this tripod.

question

is there an option for the Head to be a bowl instead of flat?
Asked by: Anonymous
There is an adapter that you will need to use to use bowl heads on a flat base tripod such as the 057. Take a look at the Manfrotto 325N Video Head Adapter, which will allow you to use a 75mm or 100mm half bowl on a flat base tripod with a 3/8 thread: http://bhpho.to/1paQ8Rm
