Go from grit to full fuzz fury with the Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Pi 2, a fuzz pedal sporting a unique dual op-amp fuzz circuit resurrected from the '70s. Sporting typical Volume, Tone, and Sustain fuzz controls, as well as new upgrades like a soft footswitch that can engage in latching or momentary action based on how you stomp, the Big Muff Pi 2 delivers distinctive fuzz mayhem.
With Sustain, you can control the amount of sustain and distortion of your fuzz tone. Tone increases treble and decreases bass frequencies the further you turn it clockwise. A status LED now compliments the upgraded footswitch. This pedal further improves on its predecessor with true bypass, allowing for silent bypass switching while preserving the high frequencies of your tone when bypass is engaged. The die-cast enclosure is rugged yet compact and adorned with unique artwork from Daniel Danger. This pedal can be powered by either a 9V battery or a 9 VDC power adapter (power adapter sold separately). The Big Muff Pi 2 includes a 9V battery.
The Big Muff Pi 2 dual op-amp design is one that didn’t make the cut back in the late '70’s and was promptly stashed away in Bob’s files. While interviewing Bob in his old workshop, EHX disciples Josh Scott (of JHS Pedals) and Daniel Danger uncovered this novel circuit design as a hand-drawn schematic among Bob’s old notes. Josh went to work decoding the original schematic and resurrected the circuit as the Big Muff Pi 2.
A crispy top end, booming lows, and slightly less refined clipping, gives the Big Muff Pi 2 a particularly cool feel that’s both unique and distinctly Big Muff. Slightly more dynamic, slightly more fuzzy, the Big Muff 2 is a must try for any BMP lover.
