XLR to USB-C fast and simple!

In the past I would try to avoid mixing USB and XLR microphones for a recording session. This add-on device makes it easy to switch hit at will!
I can either plug this adapter right into the microphone and use it as a USB microphone, or run a stock XLR cable from the microphone to my mixing table and convert the audio from XLR to USB-C at the table.
After a couple flawless hours of use “out of the box” use I plugged the MVX2U into a computer running the Shure MOTIV audio application, which wanted to flash new firmware. That firmware upgrade is normally about a thirty minute process but I wasn’t in any hurry… until two hours later!
The staff at B&H walked me through the process and I learned a few things! It was really helpful after sales support!

I've been using the Gen 1 for two years or so, for zoom, not for serious recording. It's so nicely small and robust, especially for travel. A great concept really. This Gen 2, to my ears, gives noticeably better sound, meaning not just a lower noise floor but overall better. I'd be confident to use it often instead of higher priced preamps I also own. We had to return it though. The USB-C connection was not reliable. We tested with three different, high quality cables, with the device just sitting on a table next to the notebook it was connected to. At the slightest touch/movement, the Gen 2 intermittently disconnected. Another cable that worked more reliably was very thin, pulling at the connection less. In my experience, Shure tends to overbuild their products which I love. Not this USB-C connection, unfortunately. Hopefully they'll fix the design and I'd buy again.

The Shure MVX2U Gen 2 XLR to USB-C Audio Interface is fully compatible with iPhone and iPads. The Shure MOTIV Audio App or MOTIV Video App can be used with the iPhone to control gain manually or automatically. For iPad, the Shure MOTIV Audio iPad App will provide the same controls for gain.

The Shure MVX2U Gen 2 XLR to USB-C Audio Interface supports macOS 14 or later for desktop use. macOS 14 is Apple Silicon‐only (M1/M2/M3/M4 chip Macs), so if you have a modern Apple Silicon Mac, you should be able to use the MVX2U Gen 2 directly without a separate adapter.
